Congrats to two PAC SWS grads Elissa + Jimmy JackFFC LETTER OF INTENT REACHES WA FILMMAKERS
Two of our PAC Screen Workshop graduates, WA filmmaker Jimmy Jack and ex-pat Elissa Down have received a letter of intent from the FFC (Film Finance Corporation) for the feature film The Black Balloon.
One of Australia?s most experienced and highly regarded producers, Tristram Miall (Strictly Ballroom, Looking for Alibrandi) has teamed with first time feature co-writer/director Elissa Down (shorts Pink Pyjamas, The Bathers, Summer Angst) and writer Jimmy Jack and well respected editor Veronika Jenet (The Piano, Rabbit Proof Fence, Angel at my Table) for The Black Balloon. This film tells an emotional family story that asks the question ? how do you fit in when you don?t fit in? Offers have been made to Toni Collette and young international model sensation Gemma Ward to play two of the leading roles in the film.
Jimmy Jack has previously produced the short film Phaid and Elissa Down previously wrote and directed the short film Pink Pyjamas. ScreenWest funded both Phaid and Pink Pyjamas through the Filmex initiative. Elissa and Jimmy had previously worked together on the short film HMAS Unicorn.
Films chosen through the FFC?s Evaluation program receive a Letter of Intent containing the terms and conditions of proposed FFC funding. The FFC board makes a formal commitment to fund evaluation projects only when the producers have satisfied the terms and conditions set out in the Letter.
Congratulations to these talented filmmakers!
