Is Gemma Ward Changing The Face Of Fashion Today?

Is the ubiquitous face of Gemma Ward changing the face of fashion? Like Kate Moss, knocking down the glamour girls (Linda, Cindy, Naomi, Christy), to Gisele ruling out the waifs. Seemed like Gemma is putting the doll-look, on the fashion map!

i think i'd say yes, she is...i mean i only recently started getting into fashion (past couple of years) but there does seem to be a MAJOR influx of doll-faced models...not sure if she started it tho, but she is the main one, so yeah...she may be leading the charge haha

I'd say the more strange/alien/other worldly look over the doll look. The doll face image has always been prevalent in the fashion world, in one way or another.

Wasn't Natalia Vodianova the original doll-faced model? I agree that Gemma took the doll-face and gave it a more otherworldly look. As much as I like Gemma, I can't imagine that the whole babydoll-alien look will last more than a few years. When it comes down to it, I don't think many people (especially the general pubic), would chose a unique-looking girl like Gemma over a classic beauty(Polina Kouklina, etc...).

Kate has that "please feed me" look, and she took the Glamorous Barbie (Claudia, Cindy etc.) girls down to the ground!

True. Maybe Gemma is different though. I know many people think Kate is too thin and has the whole anorexia/heroin chic thing, but most people can agree that she a pretty face. With Gemma a lot of people don't like her body OR face . I really do like Gemma, but not the entire trend she is bringing (Heather Marks, Lily Cole, Stam, etc, etc...). I don't know how long it will last or if it has the publicity factor (eating disorders, drug use controversy) that Kate had at the height of her fame.

true. unless they're interested in fashion, the average person usually will not know who rules the runway. models are just not the household names that everyone knows anymore. well that's what i think anyway...

Completely agree, there definitely is a repetition of the same pattern happening: Kate drew attention to the waif look, taking focus off the 'glamour girls' and Gemma's popularity is drawing attention away from the 'brazillian bombshell' trend. I think the fashion world in general keeps veering between types of models, back and forth

^^ you might disagree with me but to me natalia started a yong child like trend in models whiech allowed gems in to make the doll trend more popular.

i not sure if she will be come a house hold name and be accepted by the public but like my friend says 'date the blonde and marry the burnette' in other worlds the public might find her to be an exotic and intresting which might be her angle.

but like many times said before no intrested in models the way they used to be.

(not sure if that makes sense but that was my go at it)
