Tastier treat in Hollywood
CONTRARY to reports in Milan, a meaty role in Hollywood was the real reason Australian supermodel Gemma Ward was missing from the Italian fashion capital's catwalks this week.

The aspiring actor had an offer she couldn't refuse -- a screen test with Aussie director Robert Luketic -- and decided to skip the Italian fashion shows in favour of a shot at some screen time.
The 19-year-old flew straight from New York Fashion Week to LA, where she auditioned for a part in Luketic's next movie, 21.

The Melbourne-born director, of Legally Blonde fame, has teamed with Kevin Spacey's production company on the film about six university students who learn how to count cards, then shake down a casino.

Ward's Hollywood star is on the rise, with the Perth-born beauty set to start filming her first feature film, Strangers, next month alongside Liv Tyler.

Ward is also reportedly joining the cast of Australian film The Black Balloon with Toni Collette.

Sydney agent Susie Deveridge, of Viviens Model Management, confirmed Ward would meet clotheshorse commitments in Paris next week.

Film chance sidetracks Gemma
At last, the mystery has been solved. Despite rumours that Gemma Ward was a no-show at Milan Fashion Week, the reason she failed to strut the catwalk is that she was too busy auditioning for a film.
Her Australian agent, Susie Deveridge, said yesterday that the Perth supermodel had been invited to audition for Australian director Robert Luketic’s latest film project, 21.

According to an internet movie database, 21 is based on a true story of gambling experts who took millions in winnings from Las Vegas casinos.

Luketic, best known for the 2001 hit film Legally Blonde, personally requested the New York-based Ward fly to Los Angeles for a screen test, Ms Deveridge said.

:woot: Gemma looks fantastic at Balmain - far better than she did at any of the New York shows this season, where she seemed really tired :( I'm so glad she's back on the runway :flower:

wow I just saw a preview for the new Vanity Fair on ET and and Gemma is posing with George Cloony. She looks absolutely stellar

she was neked! (for all you yankees, neked is when you are naked and up to no good. Taking a naked picture makes you "neked."
