READY FOR A CLOSE-UP: Gemma Ward has taken a sabbatical from modeling to spend two months filming "The Black Balloon" alongside Toni Collette. Directed by Elissa Down, the film tackles an adolescent boy's difficulty in coming to terms with his autistic brother. Ward plays the adolescent's girlfriend, Jackie. The shoot dates mean the model-now-actress will be skipping all ready-to-wear shows except for those in Paris. "She's having a riot as it's a project she's been working on for years and it's an all-Australian crew," said a spokeswoman for Ward.

so no New York or Milan but at least she's there for Paris

that's toooo bad...S/S 2007 she had already done sooo little shows...
F/W 2007 will even do lesser...
I realli like watching Gemma on the runway....that's mean we won't see her at Anna Sui, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Prada, Versace...

Designers like exclusives... especially when they don't have to pay any more for it.. and if Gemma is going to be away from all those shows, it might mean another blue chip campaign (not that she wouldn't get them anyway).

Hmmm... Prada again maybe? Chanel would be excellent.. she's doing dior already and has Louis Vuitton (sort of..)

i doubt she'll ever do a prada campaign again..they seem to be all about fresh faces and then move on (well sasha at the moment..)

I believe this might be a good thing for Gemma! Alot of the fashion world believes she is OVEREXPOSED, all over the place, a break would give her freshness. Even though i do agree she didnt do alot of shows last season, i could live without her for a bit. Let her recoup, reanalyze her situation, then return to us anew. She is only 19, and has plenty of time left!
