Gemma Ward

my friend's 6 yr old daughter looks like her and now that I see the childhood pic she looks almost exactly like that.

Ward makes a splash in Pirates

Gemma Ward has made a splashy entry into the world of big-budget Hollywood movie-making playing a mermaid in the latest Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Early footage suggested that the Perth supermodel-turned-actress would only have a fleeting role in the fourth Pirates movie, just another gorgeous babe paid to don a fishy tail and seduce the salty dogs seeking the Fountain of Youth.
But Ward's role, though brief, is crucial and a real eye-opener, in which she weakens the knees of one poor fool before unleashing hell.
On Stranger Tides director Rob Marshall - who has one of the best eyes for female flesh after making Memoirs of a Geisha and Nine - was highly complimentary of Ward, who received positive reviews for her feature debut The Black Balloon and appeared on stage in Perth in The Ugly One.
"She's very beautiful and I needed someone with really striking features because she's actually the first mermaid you see in the film so it's important that viewers understand why these mermaids would be so irresistible," Marshall says.

She had better go back to modeling. What happens if her acting career isn't successful? The fashion industry waits for one one

I have a feeling she'll stay in acting no matter what. I think her definition of successful acting is really different from what mainstream media's idea of successful acting is. She just wants to be on screen and on plays regardless of the attention she gets. I'm not arguing with you but that's just my observations from what I've seen of her so far.

I get that feeling too...Gemma doesn't seem like she even WANTS to be famous. She probably saw the Pirates role and thought "sweet, I'll get to be on set on with Johnny Depp!" seems like she is more concerned with having fun and enjoying her life than being under the spotlight. And that's really awesome IMO :flower:

As mentioned previously, Gemma is not on promo duties for this film, no interviews, nothing. :-(

She's on-set so they must have gotten access to her via there ... but Disney confirmed to me she wasn't doing any promo duties for the film.

But why on earth wouldn't she at least show up for the premiere???

Perhaps because people have been very critical of her the last few times the camera has caught her out and about...or perhaps she just wants to relax...

I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean today.. and I must say that Gemma looked absolutely divine!!!! When she appeared on the screen I was about to start crying.. not only her beauty but also her voice - it was so amazing!! And now I'm looking forward to some huge career boost for her, I wanna see her doing tons of movies in the future so I could marvel her beauty and talent again and again:heart::heart:

^yes, one scene, unfortunately. I think it was maybe about 4 minutes.. I'm really bad on telling the time length when watching the movie. But considering the actions that took place during Gemma's appearance in the movie I don't think it was longer than 5 minutes. But even that short time was pure amazingness:blush:

watched on stranger tides yesterday evening at the movies and i do have to say, i was definitely mesmerized when gemma was on screen...she was the first mermaid they encountered before all hell broke loose....she sang during her scene to enchant the sailors....her face hasn't changed one lil' bit except that she's even more beautiful than before...it was definitely a memorable scene. just watching her makes me miss her even more in the industry....

She was divine in the movie !
Does anybody know if there is going to be a kind of release of the song she's singing ?

just saw pirates of the carribean. totally forgot that gemma had a role! I mean I knew simply forgot it, so I was so surprised and happy when she appeared.
pity that she only had those few minutes. I would rather have liked to see her in the role of the mermaid who get's caught .. you know this Serena.
She did great and looked marvelous though!

I saw "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" this afternoon. Gemma was very mesmerizing when she was on screen, enough though it was sadly only for about 2 minutes. She was the first mermaid they show in the movie and she sings to enchant the sailors.

Gemma's face is still just as striking and beautiful as it always has been. ^_^
