Getting rid of the red in the eye?

I see close-up pictures of people, and you know that white part of your eye that surrounds the iris? In those pictures, everyone seems to have that part white, without any sign of 'red' marks.

For me however, no matter how much sleep I get, or what time of day it is, I always seem some 'red' in my eye. Any idea what I can do to get rid of/alleviate it? Visine doesn't seem to help much, and putting that stuff in everyday can't be good.

Any ideas, or am I not making much sense? :P

Maybe your eyes are dry? I'd try a "natural tears" (i.e. non-medicated) eye drop a couple times a day.:flower:

When I last visited the opticians, the woman said it could just be as you get older you start having more noticeable red veins. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking lots of water. :flower:

I would also get a check up in case you're worried

That's because they have been photoshopped..:(
..but as others have stated you can temporarily whiten your no-so-white with particular eyedrops.

yes.. my optometrist tells me the same. for example, if you keep your contacts on overnight, your eyes are getting dry and suffocated.. so in order to help your eyes breathe, your veins will try to deliver oxygen to your eyes, kinda overworking them.

some people's eyes are naturally too dry and there is a saline solution for that.. if you are really concerned, you should check with a good optometrist, it could even be a stray eyelash that irritates your eyes!

don't use those anti-redness eyedrops such as visine red eyes for more than 3 days because it can cause rebound and make your eyes even redder than before

Mavala
makes blue eye drops- they are natural so you can use them frequently
they work much better than Visine or regular eye drops
I believe it is called Eye Lite
Kevyn Aucion swore by these.

I get such on the days when I hadn't have enough sleep and when I sit at my computer and the lights are off in the room - here we go, I get this red capillary in my eye in something like 10 minutes. I figured it has something to do with putting the tired eyes at loading. I will try the advices given here as well.

bump

my doctor says my eyes aren't dry, and my contacts don't make them any redder so they're not it. I do have pets but my allergy medicine takes care of that. I don't rub or touch my eyes. They're just red, ALL THE TIME now. It's annoying. Could it really be staring at my computer too long? I've done it for years and it didn't make them before.

any suggestions?
