Giambattista Valli Haute Couture F/W 13.14 Paris

As I big fan of Valli, this is like a great balance of his play on volume, texture and colors. I feel like it's very edited comparing to his previous HC collections. I'm particularly in love with the black and white mini dress with silk taffeta draped around. But serious, this is a right about dose of floral I can consume.

Some dresses are gorgeous and the craftmanship looks incredible, but I miss the darker and dramatic Valli of the past.

The one dress with the floral on the shoulders totally gives me Gucci F/W 2011 vibes. I think some of the pieces have embellishments that betray the real designs underneath. They didn't seem necessary; some of them appear overdone. That's not to say I don't appreciate a good helping of bead work, but some restraint could've elevated a lot of these pieces to a whole different level.

I dislike some of the shapes, too. The girls seem a bit padded in a few of the dresses where the puffs and architecture are being explored.

While I would appreciate some variety in his couture collections, I love this irregardless.

Thanks for posting the whole collection, naya. I personally love it, maybe except these two dresses with this see-through material - last one and second to last in post #2. But aside from that it's a pleasure to watch. The dresses on Antonina (second to last in #1) and Anastasia (5th in post #3) are absolutely stunning.

Some of these dresses look like they walked straight out of a dream or fantasy. This is really a fantastic collection.

Is this couture week being really dire, or is this collection just that gorgeous? There's some overthinking here, but most of it looks really beautiful.

Some of the stuff here got me thinking about Dior, some others got me thinking about Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton.

some of the gowns/ long dresses actually remind me of valentino HC during nicola formichetti's tenure at that house. so ethereal and otherwordly!

I'm a sucker for periwinkle and floral, can I just have all of them? So lovely.

So ethereal and beautiful... but I do see an awful lot of last seasons dior?

Not quite sure how to feel about this. A lot of the short dresses are really sweet and cute, but that's not what I think of when I think couture.
