Giambattista Valli Haute Couture S/S 2025 Paris

Glad that we've gotten away from the tulle puffs at Giambattista.
I loved the use of color and volume. The gowns were like true ball gowns. And the contrast of the solid designs against the more ornamented pieces only drew the drama into you as the show progressed. The collection has cinematic appeal in so many ways. The striped dress (look no. 14, inset) was stunning, it's better in motion. The flowing silhouettes, very gorgeous.

Let's see who wears what for awards season.

Definitely better than his last HC collection. I still find some of his dimensions unflattering, but he's one of the few designers who can do romance well. There's something kinda Lacroix about this. The fabrics are stunning.

Nobody can blame him for not choosing the best fabrics.
He made an effort.
I absolutely love the pink feathery situation that looks like it’s made out of chiffon or tulle or organza or everything! It’s great!

Some really interesting pieces.

Seriously, with Valentino not looking like Valentino anymore, he has the opportunity to reclaim the title of heir he lost years ago.

I wish he would use more mature models. Those girls don’t have the charisma for so much fabrics!

Correct he can get some of those clients from the old Valentino. And those models were beautiful but no personality whatsoever. I love the black and white opener would have loved to see them with the hoodie up. Lots of beautiful draping and wrapping up of the body and obviously a lot of great underpinning great corset work bodice work. beautiful

I think it’s a lovely collection.

I’ve mentioned before about him and Valentino, he just lacks the restraint with his tulle and fabric explosions. Perhaps it’s my immaturity but I can’t help but see a scrotum on some of these gowns. They are pretty though.

Those pieces that are a bit circus and carnival like with the strips of fabric made to look like feathers are fresh for him. A bit disco. Great for a pop star a la Kylie Minogue. There’s something sexy about them, just gorgeous legs peaking out. He should experiment and let go more as he did with this collection.

If they lost the terrible costume jewelry, had different hair styling and a much stronger cast, I think this could have been really successful and a good "refresh" for his formulaic approach. The bow shape used here also feels to juvenile for his designs. I really like the more round volume on the bottom, especially with the matte sheen of the rose colored dress, and the tiny handbags held on the straps were a beautiful gesture, quite good story telling in that. I also don't mind the velvet head-pieces, they feel very Valli to me. But a cleaner, more focused and strong appearance would do these clothes good, especially the draped dresses would look much sharper that way.
