Gisele Bundchen

yeah me too. however I totally love her again after reading this. (not...)
Why not? I think this is one of the smartest thing she has said.
People are spending too much time blaming other people for their kids problems, because they won't admit their own parental failures.
If your daughter is a coke fiend, blame Kate Moss, if your son is asocial and violent, blame Marylin Manson and Video games, if your daughter has a crappy self esteem and starves herself, blame Lily Cole.
This is really lame.
On another note, skinny models these days get a lot of criticisms because of their unrealistic bodies, but I would like to point out that the 90's supermodels, with their slender yet curvaceous bodies (iron board tummy, cellulite free slender legs, yet big boobs and big ***es) set standards just as unrealistic for most women.

PS: I wish Gisele would go back to dark hair too...:(

I think blaming the fashion industry for every case of anorexia is just like blaming Marilyn Manson for the violence in the world.

It´s a very complex disease and it´s ridiculous to simplify it just by blaming the fashion industry or family problems. Each case is different and even simple things can trigger the problem. Maybe there are cases in which the industry was an important factor but maybe not.

At least that´s what I think.

I don't know if we're really 'allowed' to talk about this; the blog post pertained to Gisele so I posted it here. It's like humor said-- it's complicated. In my opinion what she said was very narrow-focused and just... stupid, really. But I can see this (potentially) turning into a big thing so I'll just leave it at that.

Gisele Bundchen blames anorexia on weak families and says the fashion industry shouldn't be held responsible.
"I never suffered from this problem (anorexia) because I had a very strong family base. Parents are responsible, not the fashion industry," she said in the Friday edition of O Globo newspaper. "Everybody knows that the norm in fashion is thin. But excuse me, there are people born with the right genes for this profession." Gisele said that as a child her peers teased her for being skinny with names like Olive Oil, the character from the Popeye cartoon. "In fashion I felt accepted ... I never felt lonely because I always relied on my family."
If being a model has taught me anything, it's that fat people are gross. And I gotta agree with Gisele here, if you're not as physically perfect as me or her you've got nobody to blame but yourself. Maybe the next time you're born you'll earn your good looks like the rest of us. And if not, at least have the good sense to *************.

I guess it depends on your sense of humour. Unless you're reading the user comments the majority of it is very ironic and sarcastic. Or perhaps I'm just a hateful person.

it is so fantastic to see her on the runways again!! gissy is certainly the queen of the catwalk, she makes such a statement. i hope this isn't just a one-season thing, i hope she keeps up on the runways
