Supermodel 'rejects dollar pay'

The world's richest model has reportedly reacted in her own way to the sliding value of the US dollar - by refusing to be paid in the currency.

Gisele Bündchen is said to be keen to avoid the US currency because of uncertainty over its strength.

The Brazilian, thought to have earned about $30m in the year to June, prefers to be paid in euros, her sister and manager told the Bloomberg news agency. However, Ms Bündchen, 27, declined to comment on her pay arrangements.

Last week the dollar hit long-term lows against the euro, the British pound and the Canadian dollar.

According to Brazil's weekly magazine Veja, when Ms Bündchen signed a deal to represent Pantene hair products, she demanded that the brand owner, Procter & Gamble (P&G), paid her in euros. P&G was reported as saying that it could not comment on details of the contract.

There are also reports that she will be paid in euros for a deal with Dolce & Gabanna to promote its The One fragrance.

"Contracts starting now are more attractive in euros because we don't know what will happen to the dollar," Patricia Bündchen told Bloomberg.

Supermodel Gisele Dumps the Dollar

Linda Evangelista famously said, "I don't get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day." Now, fellow supermodel Gisele Bündchen is saying that's not even good enough.

That's because the U.S. dollar is no longer acceptable to the Brazilian-born clotheshorse as payment. Her fall 2007 season policy is no greenbacks – no ifs, no buts, no kidding.

Like American financial guru Warren Buffett, the world's richest supermodel isn't happy with the recent sharp decline in the dollar and now insists in payment in other currencies.

"Contracts starting now are more attractive in euros because we don't know what will happen to the dollar," Gisele's twin sister and manager Patricia Bündchen told Bloomberg.com in September.

When Bündchen signed an August 2007 contract to represent Pantene hair products for Procter & Gamble, she requested payment in euros, and will be paid in euros for her deal with Dolce & Gabbana in Milan to promote its new fragrance, according to Brazil's biggest weekly magazine, Veja.
