Due to a bad economy and, not coincidentally, a lack of new nightclub openings, last season’s Fashion Week saw a smattering of rather mediocre parties in well-traveled clubs still sporting the previous year’s looks. How gauche! With New York nightlife now on the comeback trail, at least a handful of new boites have opened, and their rosters promise runways full of hung-over models. While this week’s events are invite-only, their host venues will no doubt be in style throughout the season.
1. Opened in June primarily by the team that conquered Manhattan with club Marquee five years ago, Avenue has spent the summer building up to this week. Marc Jacobs has already checked it out, and upcoming parties include an under-the-radar Gisele Bundchen bash. (116 10th Ave.; 212-337-0054)
