nefredity, how about this to make you feel better.... I've never spent more than 2k, but I have spent 2k on bags in the past, several times (usually "flipping" something else when my new obsession is that much $$$). But now is just a bad time for my family, extended and beyond. So it's really extenuating circumstances for me, which I'm sure you don't have.

How's that?

LOL, thanks boymom. I know how you feel, been there before too. I actually wanted to buy the nightingale in 1500 to 1700 range but I didn't really like the style that much (I guess a bit too plain for me). The one with the snake handles is fancier, but it's a big price jump from 1700 to 2500. I can get another bag with the diff, kwim?

heidi klum has the original authentic fourth season s/s 08 distressed crinkled wrinkled patent leather thinstrap 'gale in green......size: medium!

i like these pics because it proves what a good size medium is. it's still large but not as overwhelming as maxi. i don't know why some of you have such a hatred towards medium. what did it ever do to you? give medium some love.....

patent leather this season is way inferior... i wanted to buy one, bit when i saw them IRL. the leather was thin, plastic-y and crispy. very dissapointed...
my black patent 'gale was way more smooshy delicious from last year.

This thread is So informative! I've wanted a Nightingale since it came out in AW06, but didn't follow closely(I was obsessed with Bbags), so I almost knew nothing about them.

Now, after reading through 46 pages of info, I feel quite educated:flowers: Thanks, guys!!!!!!

I had been wanting the original maxi 'gale, but I decided to go with the distressed smooshy medium 'gale from AW06 with goldHW after reading chauss' post about how the leather on the original calf isn't comparable to the best of Bal

But I'm STILL lusting after one in maxi.....

tooshies, i love my smooshy distressed maxi! mine had black ostrich handles. i think barneys has it. you should get one! the leather is thicker than bal, but mine is smmooooooshy. i have to tell you i sent back the first one they sent me bc i didnt like the leather....

my black patent maxi is also fabulous. stay away from the new patent leather from spring 08, it is worse than bal cripsy, veiny leather circa spring 06.

I thought getting a medium would satisfy my craving...I guess not!

Now I have to decide if I want to get the one from Barneys(I have to save up for it)or wait for the original patent maxi to pop up.....any thoughts???

hey t, you are a WE girl right? then you gotta get a maxi. the mediums are comparable to bal citys. it is VERY rare to find a real 'gale on ebay, many more fakes than bal, really.
however, that said, you just missed a real original maxi black patent leather, sold by a trusted tfser who does NOT do fakes, by a couple of weeks.. this is a good thread to watch ...
ale usually posts when he spots real ones on ebay.

No, I'm more of a Work girl(I have 9 of them, 2 WEs). I do use my Cities as well on the weekend. The one I just got is from ebay, but it's from a trusted tPFer/tFSer(do you know which auction I'm talking about now??). I actually wanted both sizes, so it was good that I got it

yes, hers was a season older with the original light gray lining. mine has a black lining. my first black calf maxi which i sold had a light gray lining. black lining started second or third season i think...

and black distressed with ostrich? perfect.B) one thing, my distressed leather is a bit heavier than the the distressed patent.the patent is the closest to bal weight...

Ummmm, weight-wise, the patent might be better(back problem), but I LOVE the distressed leather(as you probably knowB))...It's not *that* much heavier than Bal, is it? Do you know if the weight of the distressed one is comparable to post 05 Bbags?(I find them significantly heavier and thicker than pre 05)
