Givenchy Haute Couture FW0506 Paris

This collection is dreadfull.......
It looks like a knock off of Olivier Theyskens debut collections.

They better closed the house of Givenchy, than to keep it artificial "alive".
(Poiret,Vionnet,Grès closed too and now they make part of fashion history)

or maybe they could shut down the couture division only & keep the ready to wear & parfums ...as YSL did

You're right.
And Dior deserved the same treatment since YSL's departure in the 60s.

Anyone saw the S/S 2005 of Riccardo Tisci's own collection? it's not bad actually. I am disappointed wif his recent Givenchy couture, too. I really think the only solution is to either bring back Monsieur Givenchy straight away, or to close the couture section. I prefer the former one tho, since the spotlight is in Paris again, if everyone wants sth utterly French, y not bring the master back?

Eh. There's always glitches here and there when it comes to couture, but there are existing houses that had sh*tty times and they're still ok. Keep it alive. There's always next season to make things better.

i thought i would say that the givenchy site has been updated!!! you can see the new spring/summer 2006 collection designed by Tisci and the fall/winter 2005 also(not sure if it designed by Tisci or the in house team)!! i think it is really a great collection and he, to me has reall y captured the Givenchy and its essence with his own asethetics!!post your opinions of it up!! i dont how to start a thread, im kinda new to this so yeah...

I love this couture collection and see it as more reason for Givenchy and other houses to continue doing couture. I see things in here I don't really see other houses doing and it's really refreshing. It's far more modern than Galliano for Dior or Lagerfeld for Chanel and much more tasteful than Lacroix. In my opinion it's one of the few couture collections that holds it's own against Gaultier.
