Givenchy S/S 2021 Paris

Clare’s Givenchy had no identity. Talent is not enough without a vision...
Like it or not but Williams has a vision.

Disagree. She turned Givenchy into something very classy, womanly, subtle, and chic. She didn't get enough time to make an identity beyond that, because fashion spits them up and chews them out faster than ever before... which is saying something.

I can tell that he’s passionate about his new position at Givenchy but a lot of the design screams “insecure” somehow. By insecure, I mean it looks like he doesn’t feel confident in his own design vision - so he tried to do everything and make it a collection. But there’s just too much he’s compensating for.

If you need more than 3 years to figure out what you wants to do for a job you wanted (she wanted to do Givenchy), there’s already a problem.

Don’t mix things. Haider Ackermann at Berluti didn’t have enough time. It was unfair.
At every fashion show, Clare changed her direction. Her Couture was maybe chic and futurist and modern but her RTW was the opposite.
The dynamic of her tenure was doomed from the start! She had a wonderful opportunity with Megan and a well received Couture collection...But she decided to go super 80’s for the RTW...

And that ASICS collab for sneakers, when you are trying to relaunch the menswear?

I’m sorry but her Givenchy wasn’t cohesive. She had the time but not the Vision.

We can hate on MGC’s Dior but nobody can say that she does not have a vision!

i guess most of the womens tops dont even have a pattern cause aint nobody gonna buy something they could easily recreate with some leftover cloth...

I just read this article in thefashionlaw.com It basically says "Alexander McQueen, Hubert de Givenchy and Audrey Hepburn are dead and buried, now say hello to Tana Mongeau, Jeffree Star and The Hype House crew in XL hoddies and big white ugly sneakers appropiating black culture"

Ugh I dislike Matthew Williams so bad. Have you've seen Givenchy's social media? It's all about me me me
Standars are so low nowadays.

Exactly my thoughts when I saw the last LV show (OK, maybe not that eloquently). They are catering to a whole new breed of consumers, that have, ehm... different expectations.
The notion of luxury brands being in reality leather goods purveyors is actually true to many companies. Couture creates the atmosphere and brand to sell the rest, but constitutes very little % of sales and profits.

He assigned cebrities (among them are Naomi, Laura Dern, Barbie Ferreira, Julianne Moore, Kendall, and Skepta) to wear each look of the collection and created a lookbook on the Givenchy’s IG feed. Lol when LVMH believes in mediocrity, they would go all out with their budget.

I don't think LVMH believes in this collection and that's the reason why they're trying to push the clothes down the people's throats now. If the proposition had been strong, they wouldn't have to do that right now and in a desperate way. But the hype surrounding this debut faded out so quickly. However, as I said in the topic about MMW's appointment, it's too early and people won't care about anything connected to this collection. Also, I highly recommend to check the comments section on their Instagram. It's hilarious how people are already hating this direction for many different reasons. To be honest I'm waiting to see how it'll translate to sales.

It’s funny that he just took most of the muses from Riccardo...
I can only hope it works for him. Those embarrassing posts on IG does not make it desirable.

In a weird way, his Givenchy only makes me want to go to Burberry e-shop...

I actually thought the celebrity posts looked somewhat genuine, and everyone looks great in their look. Kim ate that right up.

I agree. With the exception of maybe Julianne Moore and Laura Dern the people in the ad actually wear Alyx or have some type of relationship with Matthew. So I dont see this as him recycling Tisci's muses. I think some of them look good, while others not so much. I don't think the outfit on Kylie is bad, but it doesn't work for her. Not liking Kaia's look either.

I do not know how I missed this until now. I'm guessing I just focused on the heels instead. But literally what is this
