I read that these 1970's favorites are being relaunched using the services of Kate Moss, Daria whatsername  and Gisele - I saw some pics of these jeans but they looked hideous. Really hight waist & really tight. Anyone got any info? SO was Gloria Vanderbilt a proper designer or just a celebrity/socialite who cashed in on her fame? :o

Here is a link to the website....

The latter. She basically just licensed the use of her name for branding purposes (although she did design patterns for china and household textiles and things, as she was a painter...though presumably a dull one...).

I just took a peek at the website...looks like nothing's much changed. Those jeans are so intensely 80s, the mere sight of them almost permed my hair...

Haha.

When I saw the GLO, I thought J-LO

Heh...I have a seriously ancient Gloria Vanderbilt sweater from way back in the day that I still wear and love. It was a hand-me-down to me when I was in highschool in the 1990s, and I think it dates to the late 1970s or very early 1980s.

yikes! someone must put a stop to bad women's denim. and quick. the worst part of bad women's denim is when they start making men's denim, like seven jeans for men. yuck.

I don't think that that website is up to date. The campaign for fall was shot by Inez & Vinoodh and features Gisele and Kate Moss. I think they are doing a big time relaunch but all of the stuff on the site looks like the old school crap.

...i prefer her anchorman son ;-)

He was selling his apartment in NY .. he's welcome to shack up with me ANY time!

who is her anchorman son?
those jeans are sooo for the women who are middle aged and stuck in the 80s fashion era

i love the gloria vanderbilt jeans!

the high waist look is hot... ;)

hm .....i thought the 80's train left. the kate/gisele campagin , i would like to see. but, by the look of the site.....GLO is definitly in the vein of cheapo victorias secret/ sears .

i like the look of old denim, but G. vanderbilts were always so thick, with those hidious pleats, swan logo and contrast stitching.

they had an article in Bazaar recently about the jeans I think it was the may or april issue!

I love Daria but the pics of this campaign are hideous. Oh well i hate high waist pants and i hate 80's look with passion . irk

Does anyone know where I can get the "Audrey" style the Kate is wearing in the Fall '05 ad? I looked at the store listing on the website, but it seems as though those stores only carry the Misses type styles, not the ones featured in the campaign with Kate, Giselle, and Daria.

Anderson Cooper

For a second, I thought this read Andrew Cooper..I was like, "He stopped modelling and is now on CNN?"

But yeah, I saw the ad campaign in Vogue...I dont know...From what it looks like in the ad, the cut is still pretty much the same...Maybe they'll update it w/ a more modern flare, like a different treatment of the denim..I dont know (nor do I really care)..But if you want Vanderbilt jeans, wouldnt it be more fun to hunt for the original in your best-friends step-uncles sister-in-laws closet?

When I first read this, I thought it said Andrew Cooper..I was like, "Wait, he dropped modelling for a newscaster career?"

I dont know about this...Maybe they're bringing this back as a response to all the "It Jeans" flooding the market, as if saying "Why dont you try one of the original It Jeans?" From what it looks like in the ad campaign, nothing looks any different from the originals...Maybe they'll try to update it by giving it a more modern twist, like a different treatment (I dont know, Im not a denim expert)..But if you want Vanderbilts, wouldnt it be more fun to hunt them down in your best-friends step-uncles sister-in-laws neighbors attic??

So does that mean that we'll see all these jeans w/ big swans stitched on the ***es?
