In the June InStyle, it says that "gold lame is a risk that should be taken at least once in somebody's life". So when have you worn gold lame?

I did it when I dressed up as Cleopatra for Halloween years ago.

Gold lame is a very hard fabric to wear. Ive seen a YSL gold lame floorlength column dress with a hankerchief ruffle attached that was supposed to be loosely draped around the shoulders and upper chest . Sooo much lame, but somehow it was still very elegant.

I wouldn't think of wearing anything more than a lame belt, bag, shoes, something small.

Yeah, I don't agree with that either. I just read that issue of InStyle and everyone in the gold lame looked bad and cheap :ninja: And these are beautiful women generally...

Ya, but like any other fabric it can be both tacky and tasteful, though Lame is naturally tacky. Ive gotta look at InStyle next time I pass a checkout counter.

I'd risk it, if insurance would pay...

Yes they did- the only time I ever wore gold lame was for a Halloween costume- and I don't think it should be worn anywhere else (except maybe an accesory). Despite what InStyle thinks, if you can't pull it off- don't do it.

I can only take gold in minute amounts and I mostly keep them to accessories, or as accents in my clothes

I really can't think of how I would be able to work gold lame, maybe due to my lack of imagination and a psychological barrier (mostly the latter, I suspect) which I have to overcome.

Maybe I still have yet to meet the right piece .. :ninja:

that description reminds me of the lame dresses from dior's d'trick collection

Love lame in any color. I have a 20's gold lame shrug that is great for nights. Somehow vintage lame from the 20s looks so much better.

I have a gold lame- looking leather coat, it has a zipper in the middle, and a belt with it (same leather material/color) I believe it can be worn alone like a dress, or a coat. I personally love the look, gold is so striking when paired with jeans or just to give your outfit a burst.
