'Gothic' Style

I know. Fell for individual bits and pieces months ago. But there's so much of it about that I wouldn't dare act on it.

There's some great stuff from Ghost Fall2004 that I really like... actually one could pull stuff out from most of her collections for some goth appeal.

I don't know if anyone remembers Betsey Johnson's Fall 99 collection, but there was some great stuff... and it still had color, too. I hate it when the gothic style is associated with all things black... it can have color, too.

I think this sundress of mine has moderate Loli-chan tendencies. I usually wear it with white tights with black fishnets over and black lumberjack boots. The last time I wore it, I tied a black velvet Alice band in my hair and used another piece of black velvet for a choker with a red-and-silver enamel heart pendant.

For reference, on me, the skirt comes down to mid thigh, about 3" longer than fingertip length. I can just get away with wearing to work.

This topic got me inspired, so I came up with these...
Also, plasticine20 had mentioned that Betsey Johnson had some Goth-like elements in one of her past collections. The top I that decided on here is actually by her. :flower:

i really like that black lace top purple!

as you like it, do you ever feel overdressed wearing fishnets? I have so many pairs but can't get myself to wear them out of the house. I think I might have a complex.

i know how you feel... ...it does take a certain amonut of confidence and i so often see people getting it wrong that sometimes i don't even want to go there....especially the really big ones...wolford does a style called 'sixties' which i find is a good option...more stylish...less streetwalker... :flower:

purple...i  your pics...the make up is awesome and the earrings are perfect...good job...how fun...thx for sharing.. :flower:

I have always loved black clothes with 'strange' design touches, and 'bizarre' silver jewellery...but I'm not 'Gothic' and even if I was I would never admit to it...real Goths never call themselves Goths. :shifty:

:P ..i also have this dress...doesn't really get more lolita than this... ;) i wear it with the funny stockings by wolford that look like you're wearing ankle socks in grey and a pair of blk t-strap round toe heels...with a big blk silk/velvet flower pinned to oneswhoulder with tons of strings, ribbons and cords hanging from the flower...two inches below the hem of the dress...

the dress is pretty short... :innocent:

Nah, I can wear fishnets without a hint of self-consciousness. I like crazy tights of all descriptions. I think my legs are probably my best physical feature, so I guess that is why I am not terribly shy about drawing attention to them.

Then again, I am not known for my subtlety in fashion and I tend to dress pretty crazy all the time...I prefer a style if it is not classic and in the best of taste. I like bright, mixed-up colors and bold patterns and unusual cuts.

I think I should just take a boldness pill. Or drink some mountain dew, that tends to loosen me up.

Exactly grey, but SoCalledPrep, if a bit of goth is a part of your style, and you do it in moderation then it may be cool. From what you've described it doesn't sound like you're trying too hard but rather adding a touch to your signature style.

goth and sicilian widow (a la dolce and gabanna) are not that far apart...you all have seen my avatar..haven't you... ;)

I like to think of our strawberry as a HAPPY GOTH... because i imagine she dresses somewhat like a doll...which is very lolita...but maybe not so goth...i don;t know...but i think it has a nice ring to it... :flower:

I really love 'gothic' clothing and accessories. An outfit I have lined up for school is a pink Abercrombie tutu-esque skirt (Shoot me, Abercrombie made something nice AND it was silk) paired with a skull pin. I like the contrast for me, but seeing others with the full style is pleasing to me. Not the tacky follow-along "goths", but those who really have style.
Please share pics :woot:

I saw a crystal skull pin in Vivienne Westwood last month if you're in to that kind of thing...

I was thinking of buying the cuff-link version:
