Gucci by Gucci Fragrance Pour Homme : James Franco by Inez & Vinoodh

WOW, as much as I don't like fashion campaigns using celebrities, I love James Franco and think he's so perfect for this. Anyone who disagrees with me does not understand the fineness of Franco :).

:woot: thanks for posting Northern Star
I like this actually, can't wait to smell it (not the ad)

Very imaginative. Typical move by a designer trying to sell a fragrance by simply putting the face of a celeb next to it on a billboard.

Agreed, not the most imaginative ad in the world - but James Franco's beautiful so I don't mind it at all :)

Yuck! Really don't get how he appeals to people.

I'm much more inclined to buy the Gucci perfume with Mathias rather than an actor.

:innocent:

James Franco is the shiiiitttttt. I love him, he's a perfect Gucci spokesperson, for an actor I mean.

So I was looking through my GQ finally today, and on the back there was a 3 page pull out of this ad.. so it was rather large. Let's just say Mr. Franco should have some tweezers on set for the middle of his eyebrows next time if he's going to be doing photos that close up and large. :innocent:

Maybe I'm alone in this but I feel as though something is missing from these images. James is unquestionably attractive and photogenic - there's really no getting around his physical appeal however I feel as though these fail to capture him fully. This is not the best I've seen him look nor is it the most expressive - his eyes look lost in some of the pictures and it borders on deer in the headlights. I think Inez and Vinoodh are experts in black and white and also in the art of discovering something hidden within their subjects. Something about these pictures makes me feel as though I'm not getting the full scope of things. It's as though the concept wasn't fully realized somehow.

Maybe I'm just being picky though - I much prefer the Narciso Rodriguez Men fragrance campaign that I&V did. That was a much better depiction of male beauty - at least for me.

^ I completely agree with you.

If this didn't feature James Franco, and I have such a crush on him so I'm thrilled that it does, these ads wouldn't be interesting in the least...and that's a shame.

When I think back to 2003 when Gucci released their Pour Homme fragrance and the campaign that came with it, also in B&W with an equally gorgeous model shot by M&M, this doesn't even begin to compare. It's not captivating.

I agree with Luxx and Spike, the way it's shot is nothing new or special...but James

the frag is boring. srsly, if it wasn't for James (who's super duper dreamy ) there'd be NOTHING distinguishable about this release.

but hey! at least he doesn't have to wear any of those wretched Frida Giannini designs!

Ka-ching! Money rolls in to Gucci. He's got this moody James Dean aura to him, so maybe that's gonna pull in customers. I may go to the store and try it on, but I know I can always fall back on my trusty Polo Ralph Lauren:)
