Gucci S/S 2011 : Hailey, Joan, and Karmen by Mert & Marcus

I think Karmen totally got this spot on, not too orgasmic but sensual kind of. Where as Joan, just whippin her head back...poor Hailey...

Karmen is the star of the campaign, I think now we all got it. I admit that she does amazing.
But I don't get why Joan as the same pose in every shots. Head back, looking hot but almost as if she was about to faint because of the heat. I know she has major cheekbones, but she can give so much more.
And poor Hailey, seems like she is this season Eniko.

It seems a waste of Hailey, but Gucci have done this before with girls who were cast and are then virtually non-exsistent.

Totally. Hailey got the sh!t end of the stick. Like that Australian girl (forgot her name) in the FW09 campaign.

maybe they wanted to move the What The Hell factor from the clothes to a model

Lol, that actually makes a lot of sense.

Always the same.... Nothing new.
I'm just glad Hailey's part of it.

This campaign is the best so far of this concept. The clothing looks amazing, incredibly luxurious and the models make them look sexy and sensual.

I'm glad Hailey got pratically bumped from the campaign
I was expecting a full shot of her hideous mouth and her silly expression but thankfully they put her just in the background

Im sorry to say this because I love Joan but Karmen is Feeding me with those gorgeous Eyes...Loving her all through this campaign

At least with Inez and Vinoodh shooting there was a change in direction, each season. I doubt I'll be able to defend Mert & Marcus for Gucci any longer. But I want to keep saying the concept always works. It's a shame Hailey's in the background, because she does look alluring in these. What's up with Karmen's legs in #82, they look twisted and Photoshopped. However with luxe hair and saturated tans, I look forward to seeing more.

actually, the more i see the surroundings, the more i like it... less O-face tho plz. and maybe more focus on the shoes and bags, since those are the things Frida knows how to design (even tho the clothes ain't as bad as 2 seasons ago anymore)

thing is, i actually WANT to be part of the scene depicted. it looks lazy and warm and the colors are rich. imo, that's a mission accomplished.

Looking for Hailey in those shots is like looking at a Where's Waldo? poster. I would have loved to see much more of her.
I assume I'm being too optimistic when I still have hope that Hailey might have a solo shot in another pic? :D

i know it isn't a new ad theme for gucci but i love it the same way

There's only so many times you can fall back on the same idea and I think Gucci has officially reached that threshold. I mean... yawn.

The colored pieces look nice though.

to all the people complaining about how you can't see that and that girl good enough...

that is BESIDE a point for an ad campaign. for all i care their heads could be cut off from the photo and only showing the clothes on their bodies. an ad campaign is supposed to deliver a feeling, show off the wares, entice the potential customer with the goods shown. not present your favorite models.

Natasha, Raquel and Freja would have been amazing here. Neither Joan nor Karmen stand out to me. Also Karmen can not pull off the "Mert and Marcus face" as I call it (the open mouth, tilted head back, eyes closed) as well as Natasha and Raquel can. She looks strange.

The male casting in this campaign is absolutely superb. Is it two boys or three?

On a side note. Is the first time in a Gucci campaign that the main girls do not have blonde / light hair. I cannot remember the last time Gucci had solely darker haired models in their repertoire.

^^That makes the whole SC forums pointless then if fashion isn't about the models and only about the clothes. If one of my favorite models stars in a major campaign it's only natural I actually want to see her, no?
I still like the campaign - as I stated in a previous post - but I still wish Hailey wasn't just roaming about in the background.

Never understood the hype surrounding Joan. This confirms why I don't care much for her. She has the same face in every shot, not to mention same angle.
