I honestly think Hakaan is overrated.
There is nothing special about this collection from what I can see.
I feel that he's playing one-note and not chords ..... and that note is very flat.
I'm really loving this. This season feels more wearable than their Spring collection did, and though showing less skin feels sexier. I really like the sharp edges that the tailoring has throughout the collection -- the bold triangle lapels on the blazers, distinguishable rectangles on the dresses, really nice start to PFW.
In this collection I spot references to Givenchy, Balmain, Calvin Klein, and Rick Owens. It's definately not original but as someone who loves all those designers, I love this collection also.
There is something off about some of the skirt lengths that takes the garments from edgy, rock chick sexy to BCBG / Herve Leger sexy, not that there is anything wrong with that, but it's incongruous with other garments in the collection.
^ he's not overated, just on hype.
though the silhouette is very simple, the details on the clothes delight the whole collection. however, I'm not really amazed by them. they are in between flawless-straight-cut and sharply-technically-cut, very ambiguous, he needs to define the style more steadily.
^ he's getting "help" from Vogue Paris, that should explain the buzz and casting. Last season Peachoo + Krejberg was taken off the schedule, who knows who got 'moved' this season in favor of this crap..
