 For Christmas, my mom gave me the black Dooney it bag. She said it reminded her of something (she realized this morning it was the LV).. the sucker cost $200! While that is a good price for a purse, for this one... it was a bit much... it's going back to where it came from and the two of us are going to go buy an outfit instead. What do y'all think of the price?

200 for a purse is awesome, and I know it, but this purse isn't worth it... the leather/canvas whatever is hard... I'd rather have another Louis..

I think the Dooney & Bourke "IT" collection provides a good alternative to the LV in that attracts to the younger age groups (like myself) who maybe wouldn't carry around more pricey purses (such as LV), but want a similar pattern/style. They did an clever advertisement campaign, w/ Mischa Barton as the spokesperson/model.

I know a lot of poeple have something against D&B because they feela s if they're "stealing" from LV, and not being innovative or creative...which i guess you can look at it that way...but honestly I feel it's a lot better to at least buy a somewhat prestigious quality bag as opposed to an LV replica.

I have a white "IT" Bucket bag. I am very happy w/ it, and it is the type of thing I can carry until I am old enough to carry an authentic good quality purse such as an LV or until I can afford one by myself hehe!

I'd never get that kind of bags.
it's just too much of a "LV wannabe".
I totally understand how it is for teen girls, but if I were a teen or if I couldn't afford LVs, I'd go for other non designer's bags (there are a ton of nice and inexpensive bags out there), at least they've got their own look & style.
wannabes and knockoffs just make me sick.

$200 is really good for a handbag -- but peronally, there's no way in the world i'd get that bag, it's too much of a copycat

two hundred is about right for a dooney back, but for just a hundred more you can get a reasonable prada/vuitton/dior so sometimes i don't see them being worth it. i feel that dooney is an appropriate way to participate in a trend without dropping a grand, however, people make the mistake in wearing a trend bag like an everyday bag, and that's when dooneys start to look really really cheap. better to get something plain than a time-stamped trend bag for everyday.

I agree

I know 200 is right for a Dooney- but for that I could get a different kind... I bought one two years ago that was grey cloth and black leather with this scrolly DB's... they don't make it anymore and I always get asked what kind of purse it is. I feel like the 200 my mom spent could have gone toward something else, just not that BLACK purse.. if it had been the white one, I might have kept it to use as a "to school" purse. It is great for teens, and as a teen, I can see where everyone is coming from... I'm just blessed to have parents who think Fendi, Prada, and LV are acceptable for teens.

i paied 140 for mine and i didn't think it was a bad price at all. it seems very reasonable, however i must disagree with those calling it an LV kockoff. the whole line will not be white and balck, they are going to be releasing the bags in yellow and pink and blue as wel i heard, the fit the 'rainbow' idea. just thought i would give a heads up.

I used to think that LV bags were the most hideous things until the eye love ones came out and the only reason why I liked those was because of the fun rainbow colours. The dooneys are a good alternative for those who are not as into the whole LV craze.

I wanted the white Dooney.
And i guessed they were trying to copy Louis Vuitton's multicolor that I own.
But then when the black ones came in 2 weeks ago, i knew defenitly they were trying to copy LV cause the black and white LV are really popular right now.

$200 is not alot for a Dooney.
Dooney was in style like almost 10 yeards ago and now they are trying to come back.

I dont want to buy it now cause everywhere i walk i see a girl with one.

I love my Louie Better.
