I agree with the people who said Chanel :) The LV Epi suggestion is good too though. I just got my grandmother a Noe in the Epi leather and she loves it. Looks good on an older person.

i'd say chanel too, or maybe lv - but not the monogramm line, more something like epi or suhali. if the bags exceed you budget you can always go for the accessories: agendas or wallets. or a nice hermes scarf, moms love them :-)

Well Chanel would be great but she doesen't really like Chanels bags... But I was thinkking something from Fendi. Would you have any ideas of Fendi bags that I could buy her?

well fendi has some nice bags, but those usually start at $1000. you can get her one of their logo bags, those are cheaper but :yuk:

Maybe instead of buying her a bag outright, you should take her shopping for her birthday. Treat her to a girls-day-out (spa treatments, lunch, etc.) and some shopping. See what bags she likes while you're out and surprise her by buying the bag she wants the most.

Nothing too trendy....... Something a bit timeless and classic...... Why not Chanel?

*How original is that?*

I just got my mom a chanel bag...very classy, new collection fall 2005/2006 its black , cavier leather with a small black leather handle.. it was for about $1600 but the smile on her face was worth every dollar...she absolutely loved it...;)

Handbag Suggestions

hey everyone, i'm new to the board. but i have a bit of a dilemma. ok, so i only have one purse right now, and i feel i'm ready to buy a new one to add to my very small collection, haha. i would like to purchase a high end designer purse, but i just dont know where to begin. i change my mind ALL the time about these kinda things!!! one minute i want a louis vuitton, the next i want a fendi purse, then a burberry, now i kinda liked some of the luella purses....i have NO idea what to do. i dont like really huge bags, i want something a bit smaller. i seem to be attracted to some of the more trendy designs. although im not buying a purse to totally advertise a brand, i also dont want it to look like i bought it from walmart either, for some of these prices. so in short, i dont really have a problem with logos. but they are not mandatory either. i just wanna buy something good for the price.....if u purse lovers could give me some direction, it would be greatly appreciated :) thanks!!!

Welcome to tFS! Could you be more specific on how much you want to spend? :flower:

Other than the price...can you explain how small you want the bag to be? i mean there are really small bags...and tiny small( only a credit card and a mobile fit in)

hmm....when it comes to size, i dont want really tiny. practical enough to fit a wallet, hairbrush, cell phone, the necessities. but i dont exactly want a large tote bag. i probably wouldnt wanna spend more then, i dunno, 900 dollars. but up to that price, i am fine.

Michael Kors has some nice bags in your price range (see latest issue of Shop) ... Also, there are lots of folks who like to diss Kate Spade, but I think you can get a lot of style for your money there ... you might check out her website www.katespade.com

thanks everyone....and when i say i like "trendier" bags, i mean something kinda fun that can work with casual clothing. i really dont want something that will go out of style in 1 month. so nothing TOO wild or faddish.

sorry for posting 100 times in this thread...i always have a new question, etc. but i was wondering - for a high priced bag, do u think its worth it to buy a more recognizable brand, or go for something more inconspicious?? that is a big debate for me.

I would say, whatever appeals to you the most. I personally would avoid something like the LV Speedy like the plague (I've been tired of them for 20 years), but obviously it is a classic with lots of fans. I would also go for actual leather (unless you have ethical objections) rather than plasticized cotton where the materials are worth, what, 5 or 10 bucks max? At that point you really are paying for just the logo. I personally do not want a bag made of petroleum byproducts.

I have a theory about cars that may possibly apply to handbags as well, I don't know. But I buy the top of a moderately priced line with all the bells and whistles--turbo, leather interior, etc.--rather than the bottom of a luxury line. I feel this has served me well.

Don't be afraid to take your time making up your mind ;)

not much to go one here, but my general recommendation would be to buy good quality, something that looks good on you (regardless of whether it looks good on someone else), something that works with your life (i.e., don't get a small purse no matter how cute if you can't fit your stuff in it or a hand-held bag if you need your hands free), and something you like. and remember that this will not be your only handbag so have fun with it. I don't give any thought to whether a bag is "in" or too trendy. if I like it, it looks good on me and works for me, I will get a bag even if a magazine tells me it's "out."

anyone?? like stated before, i wanted a larger tote bag but i'd also like some good suggestions and prices!! thanks!!

 mandy

How about the Chanel Cambon Tote in the large size. Or the Chanel Cambon Multipocket Reporter?
