New bag for work

Hi all. This is my first post!

I'm starting a new job and want to invest in a fun, new bag. My everyday bag is a metallic Mulberry Bayswater, which has been good to me, but I want something a little funkier. I'm kicking myself for not getting the MJ Stam when eLuxury had it. I couldn't decide if it would be too heavy to tote around work (I work in TV so I'm in and out of an office). Any suggestions?

the stam isn't actually very heavy at all. and the chain is removable too if you ever want to make it super light. i have one from last fall in taupe and i use it all the time! i know they are getting fall colors in at boutiques and such, so they still are attainable. best of luck :)

This was probably talked about in a previous post and I apologize, but my eyes got tired of searching through all the pages! I was wondering what the general opinion was of getting either a Balenciaga or Chloe bag. Any? Or one over the other?

^Welcome to tFS, surfhawaii!

Which Balenciaga or Chloe bag are you thinking of?

^Well, the Paddington's a really femininie, vintage-looking bag, but the Balenciaga is a lot more versatile, in that it is easily matched with a lot of things.

If you like to lug a lot of things around, a medium paddington is a better choice, but then for the Balenciaga, you can get the City or bigger sizes to solve that problem.

Between the 2, I'll rather get the Balenciaga, in a bigger size first, as it's more versatile. But it's really up to you at the end of the day.

Thanks! I think I've decided on the Balenciaga. It'll be my first big purchase, as far as handbags go. Until now I've spent all my money on clothes! I just fell in love with the Balenciaga bags though, I don't know why! I was just wondering if you own any yourself?

^Yes, I owe both Balenciaga and the Chloe Paddington.
I think both your choices are fantastic, however since it's your first major purchase, it would be better to get a Balenciaga as they are more versatile than the Paddingtons (imo, anyway).
I suggest you hold on till the next season(A/W 06) when Balenciaga reverts to using the old, thicker leather before making your first purchase.
In the meantime, check out the threads in this forum devoted to these 2 types of bags to be sure! :flower:

^Thanks so much for all the info! It's been very helpful and I'm glad you told me not to get one yet, I was going to buy one tomorrow!

Well, it seems like a lot of TFS-ers on the Balenciaga thread were not too enamoured of the thin, wrinkly leather being used for this season, so it's really up to you.
But I think Balenciaga will ship out its pre-fall collection in a few months, so you won't have to wait too long ;)
