Handbag Recommendations

I'm going to get a brown designer handbag for my birthday and will have about £200-£250 to spend ($400-$500). I quite like Marc by Marc bags but am not sure whether he does anything in the price range. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm looking for a classic, black handbag. My favorite bag of all time is a toss up between by paddington and my suede gerard darel. Any ideas or suggestions?

Svalka- I may be biased, but I adore my Darel bag (below). Its works with everything, I get compliments galore, and its so beautiful and well made. I think its a great, classic brown bag.

Thanks for the tip! I had a look at the website and they have a boutique in Newcastle, which, by a stroke of good luck, is where I'm going at the weekend to spend my birthday money! I'll definitely take a look. If you don't mind me asking, how much (approx) was your bag?

I got mine off of ebay.fr over 2 years ago (mine is a first generation), at the time the bag was hard to find in the US, and usually only black leather was the one to be found. Suede wasn't available. But I still lucked out, I didn't even pay $300. Prices are higher now, but it looks like they start out in your price range.

You'll have to tell me what the boutique is like, I've yet to step foot in one of them. Good luck and happy birthday

I'm going to sound nuts to a lot of people here but I plan to only buy one expensive designer bag and use it for the rest of my life (or until it wears out, whichever comes first), and I've been trying to decide which one it should be. (I'm way more into shoes than bags and like to spend my money that way instead, and prefer to stick with one bag rather than constantly switching them, that's why.) So I've been considering this Lanvin Kansas bag in black leather if I can still get it (I posted it in gold too for a better view) and I would also consider anything else in black leather without flashy or prominent logos. I like Lanvin and Chanel the best but am open to other ideas too. I tend to like tote bags that are fairly roomy but not oversized, my current bag is about 15" wide X 10" high X 4" deep but I could go smaller. The Lanvin is apparently 14 X 10 X 5. I would probably spend up to $2500 maximum, I'd be afraid to carry anything worth more. Thanks for any suggestions!

I just purchased a Temperley handbag and I LOVE IT!!!!! The one I bought is the Empire bag. It's so wearable and the leather is amazing. It's nice to have something different and unique because I dno't see that many of them around.

I can honestly recommend anything by Prada. Every bag I've bought from there is such high quality and it lasts so well! I've also found that none of the bags that I've bought seem to date - they are simply timeless!

Handbag recommendations:

Marc By Marc Jacobs: For an overall exceptional value; great leather, simple and clean lines, great hardware, beautiful colors, and a price that cant be beat!

Rebecca Minkoff: I like the Morning After; its a classic carryall with clean lines and it comes in vibrant colors. The leather on these can be anywhere from butter soft to smooth and exquisitely pebbled!

Marc Jacobs Collection: No Explanation needed. Best bags, hands down.
