Harper’s Bazaar France June/July 2024 by Mario Sorrenti

It gives nothing, but I like the fact that this lazy and sad cover creates discussions on this thread—no matter how messy things have gotten last night.

I can't blame the models. In fact, I feel sad for Angelina for appearing on this low effort cover shoot months after Juergen Teller rotated her photos like she's a hamster in Vogue Australia.

And look, there's a list of creatives behind this cover shoot on their Instagram post. I think we should thank them for the hair (?), makeup (?), creative direction (?), styling (?), etc.
We really appreciate the effort (?).

They are gorgeous, but yeah something it's missing or maybe we have seen too much of the same? I like it tho.

I’m sucker for groups shots as a cover. They all look stunning. But overall it’s very muted and flat.

That story is actually nice and just puts you in the mood for late summer. Love the beachy waves too.

Angelina looks like a perfectly nice, next door girl but.. can’t get over how close her eyes are.. something about it makes her pictures feel a bit distant, less ‘seeing you’ if that makes sense. Or maybe I’m just beginning to suffer from Anya Taylor Joy saturation and will start seeing everyone with too close, tiny eyes from now on lol.

I experience that phenomenon with Kaia Gerber having her father's downturned eyes instead of having Cindy's. Once your mind notices something, you see it every time you look at them. Meanwhile, everyone else is enjoying their work in blissful ignorance of that thing about them which never fails to annoy you.

I like the ed! I feel that Bazaar France does 'casual luxury' so much better than Vogue. It's effortless and chic.

I love it: the editorial has a coherent narrative and cinematic quality, evocative of films like Morven Callar, Y Mama Tu Tambien or The Green Ray, that few photographers are able to successfully execute. Perhaps elation and ennui under the Mediterranean sun isn’t the most innovative concept, but I feel that’s irrelevant when the images are so immersive and resplendent.

They all look good but Awar's positioning is odd, she's disappearing into the background.

The place is gorgeous. It's like a 5th model to the cover and ed.

I despise this new generation of models. They are absolutely clueless, zero self awareness, dead eyes and stiff faces.
Also can Sorrenti finally retire? His b&w studio shots can be passable at times but outdoor work is so flat.
Lol you read my mind. Sorrenti (and his offshoots) are still getting jobs based in the fact he dated Kate Moss! 40 years ago! Lol
Definitely time to retire that one…
