Has anyone ever asked you if your designer bag was a fake??

People in my school always ask if my LVs are fake, which they're not ^_^ I don't ever understand why because I go to a snooty private school, so they can obviously afford it :ninja: I think it's very rude, even if the bag I was carrying was fake, it's really none of their business.

:lol: I have to laugh, 'cause this is exactly what I posted about, a similar situation, here we have a brand called Friis (which is everywhere) and they used to have their own designs but now do "inspired by designer handbags". I've gotten looks on my balenciaga from girls with Friis "bbags" in that "mine is better than yours" way - and it's sooo annoying. They also have Friis "roxy" and "paddy". It annoys me so much, because many ppl dont even know that their Friis bag is a copy, so they kinda fool them into buying a fake, it's just that they haven't seen the real, so think the Friis one is the real.. It annoys me so much that actual store take in fakes.. we didn't use to have that here (to get a fake you'd have to go buy one off the street in a foreign country when on vacation) but now sooo many handbag stores do fakes :yuk:

I'll stop complaining about Friis now..:DI think this is my third post about them..but their fakes annoy me sooo much!
Haha I know what you mean! We don't have a Friis store here, but our MAIN shoe store is called Aldo. You may have heard about it because they did an Aldo AIDS campaign where they had many celebrities take photos with duct tape over their eyes, mouths (see no evil, speak no evil) that sort of thing. Many high school students go there for the shoes because they do follow trends closely. Around a few years ago they started to manufacture bags and accessories, and likewise they intensely follow trends! After an "it" bag comes out, they quickly make one that looks VERY close to the shape and design of an it bag and put it out in all their stores. They had a Balenciaga city look-a-like which ALL the girls in my school bought (thinking they were "oh so stylish") in many different colours. It isn't even leather, and I think it looks horrible! It's only $30 too.

They recently put out a Fendi Spy lookalike too... :ninja: AND a Hermes Birkin style leather bag.

Go to the handbag section and you will see what I am talking about.

I swear, when I get my authentic Balenciaga bordeaux the first, if ANYONE asks me if it is a fake or an "aldo" bag I will punch them in the gut....Haha...=\

hm.. just saw that site..
theres copies of every bag incl the betty..
the spy made me feel so sick. it was like $40..
disgusting..

but really the blame should be on those high school girls who are creating a market for these knock-offs.

^I agree, I just saw them as well.. and that plastic balenciaga copy is just
The Friis ones are actually 100 dollars here.. can you believe it? www.friis-co.dk if you look at both spring/summer and wall/winter for women you will see their "roxy", "phoebe", "paddington" and "balenciaga"... :yuk:

It happened a couple of months ago when I was carrying my LV bag... my friends was  and then asked me whether it's fake or not...I was not annoyed at all bcoz we r all students and can't afford it... I just said it's real and I got it from my rich relative...
anyway, I only carried it once or twice... u know everyone stared at me and my bag in a strange way and made me so uncomfortable.... they were probably thinking " look, the gal is carring a fake bag, how pathetic " or just something like that....

I think people assume my bags are fake becuase of my age, I've never been asked though.

yah...ditto...but i did have a lady come up to me and ask "is that a real one!" to my stam a few days ago...she was carrying an MJ multipocket and we had a nice lil' conversation about luxury handbags and how no one understands :)

Yes, I have. I have a Speedy that people ask about a lot. I think it's rather annoying. Plus, I think the fakes are actually quite obvious if you know what to look for. The quality just isn't there.

A girl in one of my fashion design classes carried a fake Louis Vuitton Multicolor Speedy and bragged about how she bought it in Chicago --the bag only had 5 colors on it! We had to do presentations and I did mine on how to tell many of the fake, common Vuitton bags from the real ones. She never carried it again. I realize that it was kind of mean on my part, but that is just one of my pet peeves!:innocent:

/\hahahahah!!! well if she's gonna be a design student, she's going to have to face up to the harsh world of that kinda stuff.......

Well, I personally have never been asked if the bag I carry is fake or not because for some bizarre reason I could never comprehend, people seem to think I am opulently rich. Therefore, can afford any which bag real or not. Which I can rest assure you I am not (rich that is). Though I have been asked by a girl friend, who knowing of my love affair with fashion thrust a obviously fake multicolored Vuitton in my hands wanting to know if it was authentic. Her father whom she hardly ever gets to see had sent it to her. She was so excited that her father had sent her something let alone a seemingly Vuitton bag that I simply had not the heart to tell her it was a fake. And a very bad fake at that. So I told her it looked real to me and she was elated. :innocent:

I probably would have kept my mouth shut if she hadn't blatantly lied about it. My biggest pet peeve is carrying a fake bag and proclaiming it's real. Yuck! You'll see --I haven't been on this forum long, but Im sure you'll hear my views on fakes!: )

I think it's soooo rude! It's right up there with "Are you pregnant?" in my list of never-to-ask-anyone.:D I would never do it....

Omg, that is SO rude!!! I have been asked that before, and Ive NEVER been pregnant. Then the woman just laugh it off when she realizes her folly.

Aww, don't worry Pinky, your MiuMiu is sooo much nicer than that stupid Friis bag =( And thank you for the article! It's absolutely shocking!

haha this thread is rather funny. I do think it's rude to ask someone if their bag is fake...BUT...there was one time when I was in 6th form and was flicking through a vogue...over my shoulder pops a very abrasive, obnoxious girl..."ooh is that the same one as my Louis Vuitton?!" she says promptly swinging a nasty plasticy looking cherry LV infront of me and onto the table. To which I say "It's not real." "ermmm yes it is!" she snaps back... "Look love, of all the people that you should try to kid about the authenticity of this bag, I'm not one of them" *swings it over her shoulder and walks away*

I can't say I didn't enjoy it.

ohh that reminds me.. back in the day, i had bought a silly prada messenger and convinced my mum it was fake bc i didn't want her to know i spent my money on a plastic bag with a triangle on it.

one day she brought me along to go lunch with a business contact and somehow they got into talking about handbags. my mum whips out my "fake" bag from my chair and says, "do you think its real or fake?"

the lady replies "oh, thats a fake, I could spot that a mile away"

my mum said something like "pradas are so easy to copy, their designs are so simple. just look at the poor quality.."

somewhat ironically, the lady worked for chanel at the time..

oh my god! thats classic!!!!

i just wanted to post this for you guys. i found it at yahoo.com and this is totally ridiculous for people who actually spend money on this business.
http://www.bagborroworsteal.com

how desperate are they to be renting a handbag?? :furious: :furious: it says 200$ a month for the spy plus the monthly. :yuk: wtf?

i seriously don't understand that renting bag thing at all either. if you can't afford it, buy something else. and the thought of renting a used beat up bag kind of grosses me out.
