I am just now jumping into this thread but blessed are the ugly, tasteless, and excessively rich women of the world for they keep the couture flowing!

I'm sure you have already mentioned her but I've been obsessed with Sheikha Moza of Quatar and this zealous Instagram account that documents her style.

She's got to be one of the biggest haute couture clients in the world. It helps that she owns Valentino (and Balmain, too).

She's actually very elegant.

María Félix once said "Beauty is in the soles of the feet" and it can't be more true. Most of this clients doesn't even know how to stand, 95% of them are hunched over. You can be the opposite of a high fashion model and still own the garment but I see no personality here, only money (and bad surgeries).

I notice that the Sheika looks much better than the model in her version of that striped & fringy Chanel outfit ...

Chanel is the only house that is profitable in the HC sphere.

I believe that's due to two things:

- Le19M, which is the building that houses all the specialist ateliers they own that serve all the France-based Haute Couture houses.

- The "Chanel suit", which is a nice pragmatic, but iconic style that can be modified and altered to the buyer's will. The only other Haute Couture house to have an item like that is Dior and their "Bar Suit", but it has been stylised to the point that the "Bar Suit" of today is a far cry from the "Bar Suit" of 1947. It's more a creative director's plaything than a style to buy from an atelier. That and Maria's suiting sucks.

The big difference between Chanel suit and Bar is that first one was really loved by clients over the decades and recent hype around second one is completly PR-grown to sell it to airheads and idiots we saw on previous pages. It is simply not special enough to become an equivalent of Chanel jacket no matter how much more they will invest in PR, it is just a tight wasted jaket any brand can produce

For me, the most interesting part of this thread is wedding dresses. I always thought that women who order a wedding dress from HC house get a unique pattern. After what "style" they have, I'm not surprised that they sell them old designs.
Karl was right when he said that half of Chanel's customers didn't have any taste.

It's not even a tight waisted jacket at this point. The "snatched" waist is more often just a belt strangling a basic blazer chez Maria.
