For her wedding, Grace wore 2 Chanel Haute Couture gowns, she told Vogue that she turned to a favorite Karl Lagerfeld–designed bridal look from a 1992 Chanel show originally worn by Claudia Schiffer. I personally think the bottom of the dress was inspired by a look from the Spring 2021 Couture collection.

After looking a lot of truely tragic tafetta wedding gowns in this thread, I felt the sudden urge to post Nell Diamond's dramatic Olivier Theyskens gown. It truely baffles me until this day how a designer with obvious talent like him doesn't have a bigger couture business when even somebody like Giambattista Valli can...

Maybe if he started back after Nina Ricci, he would have had the same « success » as Valli. He may have had his reasons to why he decided to go to Theory and convince himself that he had to make jeans and tshirts…
Valli was on his own the moment he left Ungaro..

Yeah. The Theory gig was a bit weird and quite a big portion of that was not something that deserves archiving - Although I guess that was the whole point of his assignment there, to show a facet of his vision that did not come through as much before. People remember the crinoline gowns, the guepiere and maybe the bias-cut, but the separates were less visible (although good in their own right). Rochas also had much better shoes and accessories than Ricci, thanks to the likes of Natalia Brilli and Lieven Bonne.

That being said, I am curious to see what's next for him. Not showing another couture collection of patchworked dresses was a wise choice, although this trilogy expanded his vocabulary overall - Not that many designers really manage to build signatures as he did, and in so doing, I would rank his talent higher than Haider Ackermann's, who holds a similar place in the industry. Gaultier would be wise to ask him as one of the next designers-in-residence.
