Haute Couture SS 05 Paris Schedule

ehh armani is always the same. i'm not familiar with all the names but couture I don't find that exciting anymore. I just don't think it is what it used to be. but that is probably an over generalization. I am sad to see Anne V.H. name not on the list. Where is she? I do adore her clothing

where do u get tickets for this show  or cant u?
They are very hard to come by. Mostly invitation only and our chances of getting one are not good.

armani should be interesting. it seems like she's never in the same catagory as the rest. like he's sort of over looked or tossed aside in his own little world. anyone else notice this? he's rarely in the editorials etc etc...

i really want the dior show to be good this season because personally i thought the last was AWFUL. the egyptian one grew on me emensly but the queens? it's like think of couture -> money -> lots of it -> jewels excess etc -> royalty
it just seemed too easy nothing original about it. and he didn't really seem to take aspects of elizbethian attire and moderize it, it was just merely bolts and bolts of fabric recycling these past attrites with some small glitzy additions

please make up for the dullness of the dior and galliano shows at ready to wear and the lack of creativity at the the couture last season john.

cant wait to see john galliano's couture collection...his clothes are always absolutely AMAZING!!!

i can't wait for the dior and chanel collection. these are always my most awaited collections.

but i'm also quite curious to see what armani has got to offer.

question:

how can one get tickets to the couture shows? is it always a by-invitation only?

Yes it is only by invitation, but if you are lucky enough to personally know someone from the business like a designer, a journalist or whatever that person might be kind enough to arrange a seat for you too...the ods are small though :flower:

at haute couture, seats are far and few between even for the biggest publications.
US vogue only get 3 seats i believe and harpers only get 2

designers really want their CLIENTS to have seats because they are the ones who are actually going to pay the big money for these clothes as oppose to RTW where designers want publicity from all the magazines.
and of corse celebrities are always welcome with open arms. as haute couture is the highest tier in fashion....getting the most famous/glamorous celebrities reflects your status and vice versa.
haute couture is also a great place for business deals within the brand, from investment to new lines, stock market, conglomorates etc etc, so you will often see business men who probhably arent at all interested in the show there but have been especially invited by the company for business reasons

What are Marc Le Bihan's couture collections like? I think I have only seen the RTW....and although I love many of his pieces, I would never have thought he could do couture, from a cut/quality viewpoint.

stilista...i could be totally wrong here...but i think it might be the same thing...
you know, how some designers describe their work as couture because of the quality and the detailing?...but i don't think it is couture in the proper sense of the word...ie-custome made...

maybe someone else knows for sure?...

ohh, I see thanks...I'm a bit disappointed then if that's the case. I'd never have thought his work was good enough to be considered couture...
