Christensen to star in thriller

Actor Hayden Christensen is to star in the upcoming movie 'Jumper', which will be directed by Doug Liman.

Regency Enterprises and 20th Century Fox are financing the movie, which will have a budget of around $100 million (£53 million).

Actor Tom Sturridge was originally set to play the lead role of David, however bosses have now decided to hand the role to Christensen.

Jamie Bell, Samuel L. Jackson and Teresa Palmer are set to produce the film, with shooting set to start at the end of August in Toronto.

Director Doug Liman has set up a Jedi reunion for "Jumper," recruiting Hayden Christensen to play the lead in his new thriller.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Fox has come on board to co-finance the film with Regency Enterprises, a decision at least somewhat based upon a budget that reportedly was moving into the $100 million range.
Christensen's casting also somewhat reflects on the soaring budget, as the erstwhile Anakin Skywalker moves into a role originally filled by the lesser known Tom Sturridge.
The project is based on the novel by Steven Gould which focuses on a young man who discovers that he can escape from his abusive father by teleporting. At first he uses his new-found power to achieve some questionable goals, but after he draws the attention of the NSA, he begins a quest for his missing mother.
Samuel L. Jackson, Mace Windu to Christensen's Skywalker in two "Star Wars" films, was already signed to play an NSA bigwig. The cast also includes Jamie Bell and Teresa Palmer. With Christensen squared away and financing in place, "Jumper" can now begin shooting by the end of this month in a selection of international locations, including Toronto, Rome and Tokyo. If successful, "Jumper" could become a trilogy for Fox and Regency.

Upcoming credits for Christensen, missing from the big screen since last summer's "Revenge of the Sith," include "Awake" with Jessica Alba and "Factory Girl," co-starring Sienna Miller.

That wacky Doug Liman. If you remember the torturous shoot that Mr And Mrs Smith endured on the way to the big screen, you won’t exactly be surprised to learn that his follow-up, sci-fi teleportation thriller Jumper, is suffering similar struggles.

Fortunately this time, it seems to be happening before a frame is shot. You see, Jumper was supposed to go before cameras earlier in the summer, but Liman – and Smith writer Simon Kinberg, who retooled David Goyer’s first draft – have been making some changes. Tom Sturridge, who’d been cast in the lead role as David, a young man from a troubled home using his teleportation powers to search for this mother’s killer, was ditched.

Fast-forward to last month’s Comic-Con and the loose lips of one Samuel L Jackson (who’s also starring) revealed that his Revenge Of The Sith co-star would be taking on the lead. Christensen will play David, while Jackson appears as an National Security agent who wants to find him so the government can exploit his talents. David has an ally in Jamie Bell, a fellow “jumper”, who helps him out.

With luck, Jumper will be ready to finally crank into production next month, with 20th Century Fox’s plans for a trilogy riding on its shoulders. No pressure, then.

It seems that "Star Wars Prequels" stars Hayden Christensen and Samuel L. Jackson are set to reunite in a new science fiction movie called "Jumper".
The basic premise of the movie sees Christensen playing a guy who discovers he has the ability to teleport, and then uses it to escape an abusive father, and find his mother.
In the process of doing this, he attracts the attention of Samuel L. Jackson’s government agent character.
CHUD has more information on this story and the movie.
Teleportation has always been something that has fascinated the makers of this site, so another flick based on this special ability is good news to us!
Join us in the forum to discuss the movie, and whether we may hear Samuel L. Jackson utter the immortal line "I've had it with these motherf***ing teleporters who keep motherf***ing escaping me!". Let's all petition that gets in the movie! Hey, it worked with "Snakes On A Plane", right?

Hayden Christensen: not gay, just arty

I am perhaps the only gossip to have hopped OFF the Hayden homo wagon even in the face of major gaygay photo shoots like this one, released a few months ago in the pages of Flaunt Magazine. And while I can understand why you find it hard to believe, especially with so many feathers and clouds and even a touch of lipgloss, according to my sources, Hayden prefers women. Strictly women. Right now, perhaps one woman.

As I reported exclusively yesterday on eTalk, he was in Vancouver last weekend, seen on Sunset Beach with a very attractive redhead - looked like a model - and another couple with a dog. They were hanging out, they were eating, one observer said he was holding hands with his girl and that at one point, she even sat on his lap while he sat on a log. Next day, they showed up at the airport, same girl was seeing him off, he kissed her on the forehead before going through security, told her he'd see her soon, and she walked away smiling, like a 'girl in love'.

Yes, I know there are conspiracy theorists out there and yes, I know I'm one of them. But how can something be staged if there are no photos to stage it with? Will you believe me then when I tell you he's not gay, he's just arty?

Reported On 25/08/2006

Lainey is such a recycler.

I don't care if he's gay, straight, bi, pan, omni, or whatever other terms we have these days -- he's bloody gorgeous, and that's the bottom line. ;)

totally agreed about lainey. she adds all her 'exclusives' here and there but he was sighted in vancouver about a week before she reported it. not even the 'redhead' detail is exclusive to her, it was reported like 3 times before her. i have a sister in vancouver who's studying there and i sent her lainey link to ask if theres been more sightings and she said "honey it's old news here."

apparently he goes there every now and then to relax. i find it cool that he can have so many places for privacy at his disposal. sad that he was sighted this time.

Okay we get it, he is going to be in a movie called Jumper.
Yes, Lemeray, I agree.
If you find a news piece from one source, that is fine.
No need to put up every single version of exact same information...it becomes spammy/one big repeat and hard to read the thread.
Thanks :flower:

So after all this talk about the new movie here are finally some set pics from "Jumper":
