Headgear S/S 07

haute femme your turban looks awesome !!, this look has this sort of urban street chic to it...actually im reading a book called "THE STREET" by ann petrie which is about a working class black woman in the late 30s from harlem who dreams of the high life , these looks remind me of that glamour she desires, a feeling of nostalgia yet modern at the same time.....i will say it again this look will really take off once fall arrives ....as fashion shifts back to the 30s/40s mood.

i bought the prada headband a couple of weeks ago. i have been using it at parties, dressing a bit up, and at work with a casual outfit/all black. love it!

i didnt like the prada ones.....i find the ones like haute 1000% more practical looking

I think Prada is the master of trends...last season was the stockings and now it is the turban  What is next?

^ I know! It's so funny..

And, I think anyone could easily buy some silk/satin fabric and make a replica if they don't feel like spending so much on Prada ones. It's not as hard as it seems!

Could you tell me how you make such a turban as Prada ?

If anyone knows where i can find more about the history of the turban please post it here or pm me :flower: i'm making one for my art class :P

Thank you! The silk one is a really huge square-shaped scarf but I think all shapes can be tied easily: pull it into a rope shape, put it at the base of your head, pull the two ends up and twist them around at the forehead (once or twice) pull them back in the opposite direction and tie/tuck in the back! It's really simple. Also, if you want a knot in the front you can wrap the ends around in the front and tuck them in. If you want a full turban look, do it the same way as the first but after twisting them in the front, pull them flat over your head and tuck them into the back part.

Sorry if it's unclear..although just playing around with it can give good results I've found--just try it! I can explain further if you need. I think there's been some explanation in this thread and also the MKA one! :flower:

Aww I love wearing that way too. Scarves are great because they're in plentiful supply in charity shops/thrift stores/vintage places and they're not that expensive.

OMG!

My mum and I were doing some srping cleaning and found out her wedding dress ... its very column like and guess what ... the veil is a turban! Amazing!

I immediately thought of posting it in here but seh wudnt let me ... ill break her eventually and post a pic of ehr on her wedding day .. lol

I like this on people over 30, i think they can make it look quite stylish and modern at the same time. it looks sort of silly on young faces IMO...a bit poseur-esque.

hmm i know what you mean and i sort of agree...but it's growing on me, so i think i'd wear a discreet version of it, like the first pics posted here..it'd end up looking just like a headband tho

I've been thinking about it for a while now and I REALLY want one you know like the Prada one that MKA wore but obviously I don't want to spend THAT much money on one. I have looked like everywhere I can think of for one in England does anyone know where I could get one from??
