Headgear S/S 07

He guys,

I have a question. A couple of months ago i saw in this thread ( i think it was this one though) pictures of how-to-make-your-own-turban. I can't remember who posted this or in which thread it was, so i was wondering maybe you guys know what i'm talking about. I really want this pictures because i want to make my own turban. Thanks!

I am finally wearing mine out

I thought this was an interesting take on the infamous/famous S/S 2007 turban, from the latest issue of Marie Claire.

That woman does not have a chic bone in her body to pull this off, you have to have a little something to manage to pull this off imo.

In this thread so far only jessie looks half decent, but I'm not sure about dressing it up with that silk top.

what woman?

^ in the article.

jessie, I would tone the turban down more with a simple outfit.. I just think the silk with ornament makes it look too oriental.

the capris look a bit OLD NAVY ...wearing it with a billowy dress, shorts, slouch trousers would make it more chic.....you still look beautiful....

I really love this trend..

Something that reflects ethnic culture is always fascinating to me.. and it's fun to experiment with different fabrics and ways of tying them.

Here's me trying different ties of a silk scarf and a more gauzy one, haha:

i really like the turbin look. especially in new york, alot of young people are pulling the looks off just great. i have seen turbins with a simple black tee shirt dress and leather sandals and a bag, or even with jeans boots and a plain american apparel teeshirt. i cant wait to wear one

You look amazing in them!!! I have a whole bunch of silk scarves from mom, would you mind sharing how to tie it? I am so inspired by how you are wearing them!

i think it looks great on you jessie! you have a great way of wearing really trendy things without looking like a victim. you really make them your own. i think it looks great.

^ I agree.. You pulled off the high-waisted jeans just as well! And that beaded silk top is so pretty.

Thank you! The silk one is a really huge square-shaped scarf but I think all shapes can be tied easily: pull it into a rope shape, put it at the base of your head, pull the two ends up and twist them around at the forehead (once or twice) pull them back in the opposite direction and tie/tuck in the back! It's really simple. Also, if you want a knot in the front you can wrap the ends around in the front and tuck them in. If you want a full turban look, do it the same way as the first but after twisting them in the front, pull them flat over your head and tuck them into the back part.

Sorry if it's unclear..although just playing around with it can give good results I've found--just try it! I can explain further if you need. I think there's been some explanation in this thread and also the MKA one! :flower:

Meg and HauteFemme  Thanks so much!

you have inspired me.....back to the closet!! :muscles:
