Okay, so I have a question for any beauty buffs with long hair.. have you ever had a clear gloss done instead of color? Does it make hair stronger? My friend who works at a salon gave me Matrix Prizms in clear gloss, and I'm not sure if it works or it doesn't.

Also, can anyone suggest any good conditioners for hair that won't clog pores? my newest problem is finding hair products that don't make me break out.....

Any responses will be appreciated. This is my first time posting....

Or not....glad 40 people can look at this and not respond...well, I did it on my own, and I highly suggest getting a clear gloss on your hair. It's not a miracle cure for damaged hair, but it certainly adds a ton of shine and makes hair extremely managable.

Welcome SweetLove,

I use the clear gloss all the time on my hair and I love the shine it brings out my blonde and chocolate brown!!! :)
It also got rid of my tangles!

You're right it's not a cure, but at least your hair will look great as it's growing out :)

How does it work? do you leave it in or what?
Thanks...

(too bad no one responded to your thread, sorry I never saw it...)

The colour tech puts in my hair.. I believe she washed it out.. not sure. But it's great!

Sounds really good.

Btw, how long does the shine last?

Sorry but, what is this clear gloss stuff? Hair dye?Conditioner?I'm completely lost!

Do you mean an hair serum rather than gloss.
Usually hair serums are meant to use once the hair is dry and onçy for the purpose of adding shine to one´s hair.

Btw, where do you break out with conditioners? Do you break out on your face or on your back? When rinsing hair, you could just hang your head so the hair doesn´t rinse all the way trough your back and so that the dirty water (the one that is going trough your hair and taking off the conditioner) doesn´t go all the way trough your back.

If you break on the face, maybe you could try to wash your face after you wash your hair and also try to keep the hair away from your face while it dries.

I usually do both things. When i shower, i allways wash my hair with shampoo first, the apply the conditioner. While the condioner is moisturizing my hair, i wash my body. The last thing i do is to rinse off the conditioner with clear water. In this part i hang my head back. :)
Then i allways wash my face when i already had the shower. I wash it with whatever i am using at the time to take off all the impurities that water alone doesn´t remove and also to remove the conditioner that could be left on my forehead or something. ;)

To answer questions: You can get it done at a salon, it's considered a process but it's easy to do on your own...it usually runs around $20-$40 at a salon and lasts a few weeks, there are also color gloss options..... However, you can always buy Matrix Prizms at Beauty Supply Stores(biolage also supposedly has an amazing gloss)...Not Ulta, but stores that are meant for beauticians but also open to the public. It's easy to do and you can select between colored and clear glosses which I think is kinda fun altho I stuck with the basics. I've been told the best results are usually from the clear gloss which consistency wise is somewhere between regular hair serum and dye. And all you have to do is wash your hair, put the gloss in for 15-20 minutes so it can bind to your hair and then rinse and lightly shampoo and condition if needed. I have split ends from all the straightening I do, and the gloss bonds to them which is an amazing improvement. Economically, it's a lot easier to do it on your own because one bottle seems like it will last me quite a few uses. Not only that, but supposedly(now I'd check with you're salon stylists first) it doesn't damage your hair and if you want super gloss all the time you can do it every week if it doesn't seem to last.

Also, thanks everyone for the responses. ;) now I feel a lil more welcome here and I will definitely keep posting.

SofiaLuv, thanks for the conditioning suggestions, I typically break out right around my mouth/chin area...unfortunately it's from my allowing my hair post shower to whisp in my face, it's what I get for trying to do that 'I'm oh so sexy with my long hair' look...so I really have been trying to find a conditioner that won't clog my pores at all. Ha ha...and my shower routine sounds kinda like yours.

^ Thanks for the info SweetLove. I'm definitely going to try it!

Clear gloss for hair?

Hey, I've heard about this clear gloss(tint?) that will help hair look shiny. I had several questions about it. First, about how much does it cost to get it done by a stylist? Are there specialists that do it or can I go to any stylist? Also, does it damage the hair at all?

I read about this glossing treatment that makes your hair super shiny. I think it coats the cuticle, so it protects hair. I'm not sure how much it costs; I think some salons offer it from $30 (maybe...I'm trying to remember...) I always wanted to get this done too!

I put up a thread about this a few weeks ago. Look through some of the pages and it'll be there, topic name is Clear Gloss=Healthy Hair?

My colourist just recently gave me a glossing treatment in between some highlights I recieved and I loved the result - my natural brown colour is very rich, so apart from the fine highlights I got, I didn't want anything done to the rest of my colour.

My head is so ready for spring now - nothing dramatic or obviously unnatural looking, just pretty highlights and lots of brown shiny hair. I would definatley recommend a glossing treatment!

(Also, I have curly hair - so straight or curly, it definately sealed my cuticles!).

Does clear gloss have any damaging effects in the long run? Or is it just purely good for your hair?
