Talk about the Midas touch. Parlaying her good genes into business genius, Heidi Klum has turned herself into a one-woman industry. The supermodel, 35, sat down with In Style and spoke openly about her life on television and off, where she's raising three children (Leni, 4; Henry, 3; and Johan, 2) with her husband, the Grammy-winning singer Seal.
Do you ever get nervous on TV?
"I get very scared. I think it's because I want to be perfect. I can read perfectly fine, but if I'm nervous, I start stuttering. I have no problem going on David Letterman or Jay Leno, but when I'm all alone onstage and there's no interaction, I get stage fright.

Who's your favorite "Project Runway" designer?
"I do love Christian [Siriano]. He's such a character. And boom: You put on his designs, and they're beautiful. I wore one of his dresses to the Emmys. People think because he won 'Project Runway,' he must have millions in the bank. That's not the reality. When he was making things for me, he was like, '****** Heidi, you have to give me cash so I can make you this stuff.' And I was like, 'Of course!'"
Were you always into fashion and beauty?
I was always a bit experimental. My mom was a hairdresser, so my girlfriends and I would do perms and highlights at home. When [the eighties German singer] Nena was popular -- '99 Red Balloons' -- I was always copying her look. And I was heavily into makeup. Still, when I came to New York, I got into a tomboyish phase: I was wearing lumberjack shirts, baggy jeans, and Timberland boots. I would go to the modeling agency and they would say, 'This is not cool. You can't go to castings like this.' I didn't know! So I completely changed. I got my dress code for what a model should look like."

Are your kids into dressing up?
"Yes! They even have a costume closet. Henry likes to wear Leni's dresses. And there's nothing wrong with that. They're more fun than Buzz Lightyear. I should make costumes for boys. They'd have to be blinged out. Why can't Luke Skywalker be covered in Swarovski crystals?"
What's your definition of style?
"When you hold back a little bit. The German in me wants to decorate myself like a Christmas tree. I could pile on every bracelet, ring, and pair of earrings. I could do nails with flowers and rhinestones glued on. I have to hold back and not do all of those things."

Who inspires your fashion choices?
"I've gotten more stylish since I've been with my husband. I was always making fun of him because he has so many leather coats, jackets, and shoes. But he looks hot. And he doesn't look like someone is dressing him. I want to look good for him, so I kind of stepped it up a bit."
What's most surprising to you about your life?
"Sometimes I lie in bed and I'm like, 'Oh my god, there's Seal lying next to me. What's he doing here? I get a smile on my face immediately. Our honeymoon period is definitely not over."
