For example, most kids who are into sport are also fed well by their parents (or feed themselves well) so they get the nutrients they need to grow tall.
Also, height helps with many sports - I was usually the best at volleyball, basketball, track and field, etc., because I was taller (and I had the skill too). So just because sport and height are correlated doesn't mean that doing the sports makes people tall.
Then it makes you grow...indirectly
