Helmut Lang/Prada drama> update*HL-art

Barneys. In turn, where did you see KVA? At Jeffrey?

Yes. Interestingly enough, they also carried Number (N)ine, as well as Missoni. Quite a new selection so far as Jeffrey goes. See my post in the KVA thread for more on Van Assche.

I didn't see any Helmut shoes at Jeffrey...

Tricotin, unfortunately I think Tom Ford's motto worked wonders when he ruled in the 90's - it was a much better place to create. Now, everyone and their mother has the money (or credit cards) but not the taste, so to jeans and tshirts they go. At least this is the case in the US.

Faust, you might be true that there are a lot of people that are just buying the more accessible part of designer´s collections - in this case, small accessories, t-shirts, jeans. I doubt though that the so-called "trendy" customer shops at Helmut Lang - aren´t those people you are talking of going for "designer jeans" and trendy labels such as Seven, Paperdenim, Juicy Couture, instead of avant garde designer´s apparel? We do have this phenomenon in Germany, too (due to magazines like "INstyle"), so don´t regard this as a US-only taste :innocent:...

PITT SHRUGS OFF PRADA

NOT everybody wants to pose for Miuccia Prada. Michael Pitt, the American actor who currently stars as a Kurt Cobain character in Gus Van Sant's Last Days, decided not to take up an offer to become the new face of Miu Miu, according to PAGESIX.COM. Prada would no doubt have paid him plenty to pose for the campaign, which currently stars Selma Blair, but Pitt apparently didn't like what it could do to his image. The grungy actor is also the lead singer of a rock band, Pagoda.

Yeah. I thought we were talking public in general? I'm thinking that because the masses want the aforementioned products, and Prada IS a mass-market brand (not in prices, but in the business model of gaining market shair by any means), their pushing jeans/tshirts by HL is natural. It is a shame in general. I was just thinking about this while looking at Bruno Pieters pictures that runners posted. They are gorgeous, but from what I've seen in the only store in NEW YORK CITY (nonetheless) there is no way in hell they will buy it. It'll be same basic stuff. SAD. But can we blame the stores if they can't sell the fashion-forward pieces?

So true. I post on a non-fashion site, and they could NOT understand the concept of wearing a hooodie with a blazer/suit, which is SOOOO old in fashion circles it's pretty much out, yet to them it was heinous. Sometimes we take fashion & styles for granted forgetting that the rest of the US (let alone the many areas of the planet) are nowhere near the level of understanding/interest that we share here on TFS. :flower:

Come across Helmut Lang FW2005 collection in Arena UK and it looks like something designed by Jil Sander's team. :(

Everytime this thread gets bumped up again, my heart always starts racing in anticipation that I'm going to read an update that Helmut is back.

But...nothing yet. Only sales at Harrod's (which are good, don't get me wrong...) :p

WHAT?! They are already putting F/W 2005 on discount - How worse is that?!

I don't think that's what he meant - just that it was being sold, not "in the sale" as such.

Valutare nuovi progetti. Came across this tidbit online. If anybody wants to do a full translation, feel free, but it basically just says that the break between his eponymous label and Prada is complete, and that he's working on plans and drafts of HL-art with two of his Soho assistants.

Not too much new information, of course, but just a further support that HELMUT WILL BE BACK, possibly soon, especially since this article was dated back in March!

I really hope you are right that helmut Lang is coming back...
For me he is one of the most important mens designers, we have, along side Dior and Vivienne Westwood, so to see him disappear I would cry my self to sleep.... I have tank top pieces by helmut that I couldn't live with out...:p

I was looking at the men's schedule for Paris on firstview.com and I see that they have Helmut Lang in the schedule. Is there something I don't know?

I think you may have been looking at the fall/winter 2005 schedule on firstview. The one for this year is further down that list. As for that show, it was the presentation done by the design team in Helmut's absense.

I hope I'm wrong, because I'd be the first in line to see a new Helmut presentation, but since Helmut is out at his eponymous brand, it wouldn't be designed by him.
