Lopez has this weird flat face that I find really unattractive. Even high cheekbones can't save her.

she didn't have such prominent cheek bones either back when she was still a rather unknown dancer.

I have very high cheekbones (got it from my father family. My grandfather is japanese) and sometimes I just don't like it, cause if I put on some weight, they get too big. So I have to control all the time my weight and how much I smile.

how is her face flat? from the side it looks very defined, and the front it looks defined too...so where are u seeing the flatness?

^I don't think she means bone structure flatness, but more of flatness that her features cause that is apparent in profile views. Like her forehead combined with her nose, etc. That's just my interpretation. :flower:

It's easy to tell if you have high cheekbones or not. When I rest my face on my hand, I can't do it for long because the cheek bones hurt my hand. LOL If you always rest your hand on your face, you more than likely don't have high cheekbones.

Good point Shaarmur!
Also what is first nations? Like Aboriginal?

I really dont understand the fuss over Halle Berry's cheekbones. They are too apple round if you know what I mean. I prefer sharper ones. Also Cintia and Heather dont have particularly impressive cheekbones do they?

Yassssssssss!!! My favorite runway model! We have the same face shape and cheekbones!

there's a difference between high bones, and high AND defined bones. who's that strong black model? she looks great and womanly. her those cheekbones are high, but thick and meaty like grace jones. many people have high ones sans the meatiness. devon aoki, angie lindvall, liv tyler, etc. so i would disagree with your assessment of how to detect...sometimes high is just high. one way to tell is that some people's eyes look squinty cuz their bones are so high.

Mmmm....That's not Liya Kabede...I like Liya Kabede better,Liya is a really beautiful Black Woman!

I HAVE to chime in....I was made fun of in high school for my prominent bone structure (little native american blood), and now that's all ANYONE compliments me on. Only when I started getting into fashion is when I realized that I should be proud of the rarity.

To those who question if they have them or not, high cheekbones means that the zygomatic bone starts right below (as anatomically close as possible) the eye socket. The closer they are to your eye the higher your cheekbones.

That's really interesting! I get asked about my ethnicity quite frequently and when I tell them I'm an Eastern European mix, I've had people comment how they can tell I'm Slavic based on my cheekbones/bone structure

I have moderately high cheekbones. Everyone now a days to get more prominent cheekbones does the whole contouring trend which I'm absolutely sick of. It's tedious, time consuming and can be expensive if you're desperate to find the perfect product. I just bought the Cover Fx kit and then realized I had to buy the 50 dollar brush in order to do a good job. Instead I just do a highlight with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish (in Soft Gentle for me) and that does WONDERS in highlighting/accentuating cheekbones. Not to mention, it saves time and you don't have to be all caked up, especially in this upcoming summer heat.
