The How Do I Get This Look? Thread

That looked easy...and then I tried to do it myself. I don't understand where I'm going wrong 'cause you can call my liner wings anything but perfect :(

^What part of it didn't work for you? I think using a thin liner brush rather than an angled brush is helpful.

I just did it with my Guerlain liquid eyeliner, and it worked really well. The brush is thin and flexible though...

^yep, I agree, I do it with the attached wands that come with the liners, not with a separate brush.
It's pretty easy, well easier than doing it all by yourself at least :flower:

When I close my eye, the eyelid becomes very creased (and so does the sellotape) and it's impossible to draw a straight line then:unsure:

In the beginning of the vid she does say that you should do this with your eyes open.

I tried this and it didn't work either... If you apply eyeliner with you eyes closed, don't your eyelashes get in the way? I really cannot do it with my eyes open, even when I look down in a mirror, my lashes are in the way!
So I always do it with my eye closed, and I always have to do it at least 3 times before I get it right .

I have Asian eyes (not monolid yet not as big as Ashley's)

Any tips on creating this look? Product suggestions? Your help is greatly appreciated

I would suggest going for a shade that is more plummy rather than maroon if you are worried about asian eyes, try MAC nocturnelle or beauty marked.

2nd Beauty Marked! Very multidimensional, very similar. Rim your eyes with eyeliner, lots of mascara, and keep colour darker on the outer corner to create a less-Asian/more-Ashley shape.

that's the easiest way I can recommend :flower: It has saved me!

i agree with Ida, pretty model! and great video

i tend to wing my eyes out more straight though, free hand. those thin eyeliner brushes are the best! i only use the angled e/l brush to tight line

The eyeliner video was well useful. Trying this look out today. Thanks x

Hi! I'm new to this part of the forum, but I've been lurking for a while. This thread is super helpful!

I really really love this look and it seems simple enough, but I'm having a hard time matching the lipstick color. Does anyone have any recommendations (or what I should look for in a lipstick)? Most red lipsticks out there seem too fire engine red, which don't go well with my warm complexion. This lipstick seems more...brown?

Also, what color blush would I use?

Thanks so much!! :flower:

edit: sorry for the picture size! i keep trying to edit it, but it doesn't stay small.....

With regards to the lipstick, look (or ask) for something "brick red." That's the sort that has a brown tone to it. I would give suggestions but I have a cool complexion so those don't work on me
Definitely use a cream blush. With regards to the color, something along the lines of MAC "Lilicent" would be perfect, but the formula and color has been discontinued but you can still find it in most stores

Hope this is vaguely helpful, sorry I couldn't be more specific

I really love this make-up. I know it must be quite simple to get but I'd like to hear your suggestions on lipsticks and eyeshadows, thanks.

^Any rich brown eyeshadow will do, like MAC's swiss chocolate and Hug Me lipstick. On the cheeks only a contour like Harmony on the hollows of the cheek and lots of mascara on top and bottom lashes :flower: Also you might want to use an eyebrow pencil to fill in and make your eyebrows stronger!
