A party packed with prominent Washingtonians at the Mayflower on Monday night couldn't help but laugh at the thought of Michaele Salahi in their midst. But as much as partygoers scoffed at the reality wannabe, it's obvious she would have been a natural fit for the party, with her social connections, affiliations with "The Real Housewives of D.C." and her polo-playing husband.
Yeas & Nays couldn't help but notice that the joke of the evening actually was included among D.C.'s elite in Capitol File's holiday edition in its signature feature, "The Monumental List."
For an idea of Michaele Salahi's company on the list, it includes other bold-faced names like "Real Housewives of D.C." candidates Lynda Erkiletian and Mary Amons, cable news executives Michelle Jaconi and Betsy Fischer, Kennedy Center honorees Bruce Springsteen and Robert De Niro, Politico's Tammy Haddad and publicist Janet Donovan.
While Michaele may have been the missing piece Monday night, real supermodel and Capitol File's holiday edition cover girl Hilary Rhoda was the guest of honor at the event.
"She has this boundless energy that you can't convey through the pages of the magazine," editor in chief Sarah Schaffer said of Rhoda. "I hope that people get to see that tonight."
Despite Rhoda's ventures beyond D.C. into the world of modeling, the Chevy Chase native said, "I always thought that D.C. was chic but in a different way, but now more attention [is being] drawn to it, which is nice."
Spotted at the event, Rep. Kendrick Meek, D-Fla., eco-activist Philippe Cousteau, WJLA's Alison Starling and Pamela Brown, Pamela Sorensen, WUSA9's Angie Goff, Fishbowl D.C.'s Matt Dornic and Christine Delargy, Politico's Kiki Ryan, WaPo's Amy Argetsinger, CNN bureau chief David Bohrman, Luke Russert, Urban Daddy's Jeff Dufour, potential D.C. housewife Lynda Erkiletian, Jayne Sandman, David Washington, Raymone Bain, Todd Flournoy, Elizabeth Thorp, and Susanna and Jack Quinn.
