Dear oh dear. This is wayyyyy too overpowering on me. I bought a 3.4oz bottle blind about a year ago, and only wore it today for the first time as it was pretty cold outside, and was smothered by the scent.

Any ideas on what to layer it with, to undermine the smokiness?

I would just use a minimal application; it's a pretty rich and complex scent to be adding anything to.
