I hate my hair - rant thread

My hair is thick and coarse and long and huge, and it grows mega-fast. Does anyone remember Rudy from "The Cosby Show" with the ponytail bigger than her head? That's me. I just want to cut it all off.

My stylist makes it look shampoo-ad beautiful, but it just goes nuts again after about a week. I wish I had a live-in hairdresser.

^I feel your pain. My hair is exactly the same. Plus it's naturally curly and frizzy.

my hair is long and thick and brown and a lot of people say they would love my hair
but i really dont know what to do with it because curls never stay in and my hair is too long to really style it
i want to get a haircut but I dont know what kind of new hairstyle would look good, any suggestions

i have natural afro hair, but i always have to straighten (relax) because it's not considered proper for me to keep it natural like i want

i've been straightening my hair for my whole life and it sucks because it really damages your hair for having done it so many years, i don't understand why an afro cannot be considered proper or acceptable...i hate it!

my hair is, in a word,
POOFY. POOFY.
and
POOFY.
no matter what i do.
POOFY.

people tell me im lucky to have such thick hair... but im soso sick of dealing with it!!!

I used be really unhappy with my hair to a point it made me dislike myself and be depressed. Then I discovered japanese straightening at age 21 and now I really love my hair. The only thing I hate is to spend $700 every 9 months to get it done. It makes me feel superficial.

OMG. I just got back from the hairdresser and she totally screwed it.:cry: I wanted long bangs that layer into the rest of my hair on the sides. Well, she cut it way too short and didn't match it to the rest of the hair at all. It's so frizzy and I basically look 10 years old again. I literally spent half an hour crying...

afro have a really adorable texture :flower: is it like the people around you tell you to keep it straight or you feel ur pressured to keep make it straight?

Why does my hair have to be naturally wavy? I'm an Asian! I demand straight hair ALL THE TIME.

This means I have to spend about $150 every three months to have it chemically straightened.

I need to cut my hair badly.. It's getting way too long!
But I can't decide which hairdresser to go to

My hair is totally flat naturally, I want it more wavy to match my bangs.

yea i like my natural hair too, but i think like culturally it's not acceptable to keep your hair in an afro

like i dont know any black women that keep their hair natural

^ you can just braid it or keep it short... i like pepper corn hair hehehehe im crazy in that way:P

i feel for you, my hair wont be straight unless i put strightening cream and blow dry it.... it is somewhere between straight and wavy

I cut my hair like three months ago and it has barely grown, I hate how short it is and when it is long it looks too thin :(

my scalp is so freakin dry!! AARGH!! so annoying!!

why can't it be like this?!!!

^ omg, that model has such amazing hair, hahahah.

oh god, the things that i have to go through to get my hair the way i want it is RIDICULOUS. the only way i can get it to look naturally straight is to lean it against a pillow while it's wet and then sleep on certain sides throughout the night. crazy, i know!! it's the only way it'll stay put. my strands have a mind of their own, i swear on it.
and i have this horrible feeling that it'll soon go wavy/curly the way my mom's did. sometimes i wake up in the morning with small curls at the front tips. it doesn't look BAD... yet.

I just got back from the hairdresser. I got some side bangs. I'm not sure if I like them yet. I think I have to get used to them but they are just bothering me right now. :( Does anybody get like that after they leave the hairdresser?

^Yep! Last year I got my bangs cut at the salon (I hadn't had bangs since I was a kid before then) and I didn't like them at all even though they didn't look too bad. I guess it was because I wasn't used to it.
