I hate my hair - rant thread

So I decided the other day when I was out with my friend to put a streak of purple in my bangs and that actually would have looked sort of alright. But when I bleached that piece I pinned it back and it bleached like the whole top of my head so now it looks like someone dropped a purple egg on my head. Haha what a terrible idea that was :(

So I'm in early stages of grow out from a pixie and need to rant.:ninja: My hair is just barely long enough to hold a little back in one of those snapping clips. But only one side and little bits still pop out. But it's just not looking neat anymore to leave it loose (which is what I normally do). Eurgh! The pixie was so cute but I'm ready to go longer again and just can't stand this stage. But I can't keep cutting it or I'll have a pixie until I die. I wish I could fast forward eight weeks or so on my hair alone.

^i know how you feel...
mine was growing out of a pixie cut too..

i went today to get it trimmed..because i couldnt stand it anymore...
and he cut it so short that i look like i razor cut it all over again (which i did about 4 months ago)...argh!!!!!....i just wanted him to trim it so that the shape came back again....not cut it ALL off again....i look like i've just shaved my head...ugh...

why dont some of these stylists listen...

I went to the hairdressers today and she's cut it shorter than I wanted and the fringe... oh god, what a disaster.

The only positive thing to say is I really like the colour.

i have xtremly curly hair. it is snapping off due to some woman burning sections off a year ago. i used to have hair down to my boobs. it is now thinned out, hitting thecollarbone. ugh!!

GAHHH I asked for long layers and she cut them quite short.. which doesn't help because my hair has a kink in the back where it has ONE WAVE, and so my shorter layers stick out and I feel all mullet-y :(

I miss my hair. I should have told her just to thin out the tips

I have heard several times that many women only go to male hairdressers? is that true? why?

I have been to so many salons but only female people did my hair and I hated it everytime so I am not considering if changing the gender would really make a difference

I really hate my hair right now.

I agree with the first posts on this thread on how hairstylists never really give you what you ask for. They totally do think they "know better" and put their own take on what you ask for. I always end up being disappointed. I try different salons and stylists, and it's always the same crap. They never really "get" what I ask for, and their egos are too big to really care.

Right now, I have a Freja like bob which looks decent, but I need to get a maintenance cut. I'm thinking of getting something different this time around, something more edgy (yes, that magical word that hairstylists never seem to get). In addition, my hair texture has changed over the past few years. My hair was silky fine, and now I'm starting to get wavy, wiry thick strands popping out of my scalp. It's embarrassing and ugly. I hate it!

I have an opportunity to see one of my favorite former stylists in two weeks that I went to when I lived in DC. Since I've been living in NYC, I've been trying to find a stylist who can work the same magic, but to no avail. The only thing is, though, is that uh...the last time I had an appointment, I left him my number in the tip envelope and uh...he called me and we met up and...uh, yeah....:innocent::ninja:

So, I'm a little embarrassed to call back to make an appointment...it's been like 6 years now since i've seen him. I suppose I should get over it... I'm a big girl now right?

i secretly like winter time better because i don't have to deal with my hair getting all frizzy in the summer

my hair is always very dry (lacks shine) and doesn't move. i can style it with gel or something, and it will look like nothing happened a few hours later :\

some product recommendations for good hold (but not rock hard!) and shine are recommended :)

Maybe you could mix products? I often emulsify two products in my palms before applying. For hold I use either Aveda men's grooming clay (matte hold and texture), control paste (a little shine more hold), or defining whip (lighter hold), and I mix one of those with the light elements smoothing fluid oil for shininess. You can also add more smoothing fluid after and jsut rub it over the top strands if you want more shine.

well it's been a week since my rant and i'm happy to report that my hair has already grown into the cut superbly...so i'm happy...:woot:
i hope you all find hair peace soon too...

i really dont like my hair at the moment .. i aaalways was used to have quite long hair, but 2 years ago i had this fancy of cutting it all
NOT a good idea!

i mean now it's already shoulder-length but whenever i see someone with long hair i get frustrated  haha

Oh no!!! I got finally got up the nerve to have my hair highlighted and dyed last Monday and I hated it because I thought it looked all wrong. My sister did it for me, and I thought she would do a good job because she's done this kind of stuff before. But I guess I don't have the best of luck. Anyway, now I REALLY hate my hair because yesterday evening I washed it for the third time and a little bit of the dye was still running, and I thought, "Oh, it's no big deal," but after I dried and did my hair, it was pretty noticeable. The highlights were lighter and are starting to take on the slight orange color and I think the right half of my hair is darker than the other half. WHAT!! I went to school for the first time after spring break and a couple of my friends admitted they thought it was kind of strange. Well, they didn't say that, but no one definitely said anything positive about the change. *sighs* Anyhow, I'll be looking into a REAL salon real soon... but I'm afraid I'll pay a lot of money only to have them mess up, too!! My hair is also really dry, but it was already pretty dry before the hair dyeing. Gaaaaah! I wish I never dyed it.

i hate my hair right now because im inbetween styles

i had a short crop and it was a sort of pillar box red:heart:

now im growing out all the colour i have on my hair after dying it so many times so i can go back to a really short crop and go white blonde:D

so really my hair has a grown out style which is still too short to tie back but far too long to wear down i have a good 1/2 inch of brown roots and i need another inch or so before i can start chopping it off

my friend suggested shaving it off and i was so tempted its probably best that we dont own hair clippers in this house and i wouldnt trust her scissors over comb either way its still in my mind:innocent:

I've been bored with my hair for some time now..
I have a simple haircut with bangs, had it since I was in seventh grade. In the past I've dyed my hair blonde, red and black. Now I'm happy with my natural light brown colour, but I've finally decided that the fringe needs to go! I feel like it's become almost a part of me because I've had it for so long  Can't remember what I looked like without it, which makes the decision to grow it out even scarier.
