Image problems ... Alba strikes a pose at the UK i>Fantastic Four</I> premiere / AAP

<DIV id=storyBody>HOLLYWOOD babe Jessica Alba thinks she's an ugly duckling and a control freak.

While many stick-thin celebrities blame a high metabolism, exhaustion or similar reasons, the sexy stunner has come clean, revealing she battled an eating disorder.

The Fantastic Four star suffered from anorexia, anxiety attacks and obsessive compulsive behaviour, UK tabloid The Sun has reported.

The feisty beauty, who stars as superhero the Invisible Woman in the comic book's big-screen adaptation, nearly became invisible herself as she struggled to overcome anorexia.

The 24-year-old, whose father is Mexican and mother is of Danish and French descent, says it all started before she even hit her teens.

"Everyone in my family is overweight. I wanted to be healthier, so I started cooking for myself when I was 12," she said.

I would be more likely to believe something along the lines of "I'm not a very good actress" as I think Jessica Alba is very hot! I read in Allure that James Cameron had her work out for a year to remake her body before Dark Angel :(

i dont think shes even quoted in that as saying " im not hot" or i cant see it anywhere...

Ugh - so refreshing! I get so frustrated when celebrities aren't honest (I understand why - but maybe they could try the honesty angle - perhaps it can work?!).

I agree with fezbatik and ilovejesia... horray for honestly and not giving your fans false impressions

I read in that same article (I think) that she works very hard for her figure, only eats healthy and whatnot. Apparently she started cooking her own meals at 12 or so cos she didn't want to get big like the rest of her family. Good on her for being honest.

^^yup! I luv this from the superficial, the story and next to it an ad of her bending over, no she isnt hot at all

DO NOT like the last paragraph in this article (which wasn't posted by the original poster probably due to technical errors..). Rubs me the wrong way. Jessica Alba has come clean about her past problems and her issues with her body (very normal for a hollywood actress) now it seems like he is attacking her in a way by being so sarcastic. I think its great how Jessica is telling the truth about her body and her struggles instead of lying and saying something like.. "oh I don't work out.. i can eat whatever I want and look this good.."

-- oh and fezbatik.. love your avatar (you cut Daria off though.. .. prefer Karen I see?)

I hate it when girls who are pretty tell everyone that they're not. Being humble is nice and all, but come on, that's so disgusting. It's like they're fishing for compliments, waiting for everyone to tell them 'Oh no, you're so gorgeous!' If you're pretty, accept it and stop living in 'pretend' denial. No one likes a fisher :ninja:

I don't go around saying I'm hot, but when people tell me I am, I agree with them. Honesty is the best policy :innocent: (Of course, when I say that they usually give me a mean look and call me a b*tch)

J. Alba is a sweetheart. She is totally cool. Nice attitude and everything. I thank her for her honesty and I don't think she's fishing.

I think there are two types of girls who say they aren't pretty; one group of girls just loves to hear everyone say, "nah uh!! you're gorgeous!!", but the other group actually has very low self-esteem or just doesn't realize how beautiful they are. I don't know which Jessica Alba is but I doubt it's the first because she seems so genuine and pleasant...and I think she's one of the hottest women on earth right now...

And now I'm not trying to pick a fight, but if you "agree" with people when they tell you you're hot, then get upset when they say you're conceited, you may have a problem. There's a difference between knowing your natural beauty and graciously accepting compliments ("thank you" is a good term, accented with a modest smile) and saying, "Thanks, damn, I know I am...!". Second response is, sorry to say, asking for trouble. :innocent:

Wow, I had no idea that she battled an eating disorder! I'm glad she's being honest...and I can totally understand what it feels like..but she's definitely a very beautiful girl, and I don't think she's looking for compliments..I just think she may have a poor self image which is the case for many girls.

Ohh, thanks Charlotte - one of the TFSers actually made this avatar, and I asked her if i could use it - I'm sure cutting Daria off was not intentional .

I LOVE Daria - I actually hung out with her a couple of times when she still lived here near Toronto. She's amazing.... my favorite lady by far.

Her honesty sure is very refreshing.
I don't think it's really got anything to do with honesty rather she wants to seem humble.
