I'm not hot - says Jessica Alba

I don't care whether she's hot or not, I like it when stars show themselves to be slighly self-deprecating, it shows their human side and for that - in my book, she's hot.
I find it somehow really saddening that some people have replied to that comment from her with "I agree with her - she isn't hot" or whatever... I just do.

She may be a good looking girl-but saying "I'm not hot"-is just another way to get people to reassure her that 'oh jessica-you're so beautiful.."... Spare me.

^ I don't think that's always the case at all - she doesn't need to resort to that anyway as she knows she will get told she is hot regardless of how she says she sees herself. I can't stand it when people assume that self-deprecating comments must equate to compliment-fishing ~ it's just not always true.

I don't sense she's fishing for any compliments. I think if anything she prefers to be
known for her acting (which in my opinion she lacks that ability) than to be just
known as another pretty face. I can see guys lusting after her saying words like
she's "HOT" but that goes with a lot of males out there who lust over so many of
those pretty faces. I think it has to do more with what guys think about her and
their perception of her if anything.
Personally I think her acting ability sucks and needs more work on that
department. However she's a good looking person. I know she's way better
looking than I am. That's for sure!

I'm just going to put this out there as honest as I can be because noone here has any clue who I am, otherwise I would not be able to publicy admit this but....

I had 5 really akward years from 11-14. I completely noticed a change in the way people treated me and had to rely on other devices like intelligence and humor to get me through those days.

I guess you could say that outwardly I blossomed into the woman that I am, which is someone who now frequently gets told how beautiful she is. Deep down inside I will always be the young awkward girl.

What I am trying to say is that maybe some "hot" people know they are hot but only because other people tell them so, and they just have a grip on life and realize that outward beauty is fleeting. It can hinder our perceptions of other peoples motives.

I have been happily married to my husband for over 9 years and our closest straight guy friends still frequently hit on me and tell my husband how lucky he is and how beautiful his wife is. It's such a shallow thing to say about someone. So many more important attributes than outward beauty.

I think that when "hot" people deny their hotness it is just because they are uncomfortable with the shallowness of everyone around them.

I think there are two types of girls who say they aren't pretty; one group of girls just loves to hear everyone say, "nah uh!! you're gorgeous!!", but the other group actually has very low self-esteem or just doesn't realize how beautiful they are. I don't know which Jessica Alba is but I doubt it's the first because she seems so genuine and pleasant...and I think she's one of the hottest women on earth right now...

And now I'm not trying to pick a fight, but if you "agree" with people when they tell you you're hot, then get upset when they say you're conceited, you may have a problem. There's a difference between knowing your natural beauty and graciously accepting compliments ("thank you" is a good term, accented with a modest smile) and saying, "Thanks, damn, I know I am...!". Second response is, sorry to say, asking for trouble. :innocent:

Alba is just a whiny spoiled celebrity who can't act her way out of a paperbag! lol
