Imitation of Christ F/W 2005 New York

Exactly -- and the PILLS? if they are intended as a statement, its more a distraction than anything...an awful ridiculous distraction to these ordinary, very ordinary clothes...but then again I was never drawn in by IOC.

But you see,her acting abilities come into play here. She loves to pretend she's a designer.

Seriously,I think she should stick with what she's good at and that's reworking. As much as a novelty she is anyhow, she really makes a crap attempt at creating her own stuff.

Btw,I think whether a person is trained or not,you can still be a stylist. Like I'd consider Marc Jacobs one as he copies existing forms so much and I'd actually say the same about the mentioned as well.

Post #3, lowest right: looks like the Wellies character from the old Monty Pythons ("Me brain hurts!")

Oh man, you are too right! I went back and looked at it, and she's got the clenched-fist, bent-arms thing, the constipated expression, the big boots...I actually snorted aloud!

J. Gumby, R. S. Gumby, etcetera. Sorry! Sorry! My braaaain huuurrrrts!

wow...there is so much going on here, i don't know where to begin.

70 looks? waaaaayyyyyy too many. just pointless. and everything looks like a repeat of something else. i just never got the appeal of IoC's stufff...and she never seemed to get into a rhythm with her work. now she's doing to shoes with Easy Spirit and coming out with jeans...that's so not what i thought IoC was about.

m-o-m i hope you're right, that people realize she is basically a no-talent...i think some people started seeing that after last season's mess...

No coherence .. its all over the place ... you just can not point where any of these pieces are IOC (well... old school, IOC, the one it seems most of the people here misses)

well... 'imitation' *is* in the name..

I like some of it, like the jersey stuff, but it really lacks an overall theme. I don't get the pills, but I do love them.

softgrey,

What made you think they were on the right track? Certainly not last season's abominations.

the first few looks ...like the ones misahoi posted...

i thought...'hmm..oh look...real clothes for a change...'

but then it went into all the long t-shirts and hoodies and then i realized there were 70 of these...and then it really fell apart towards the end with all the nonsense...

does it ever occur to tara subkoff that it might be possible that not everyone wants to look EXACTLY LIKE HER>>>?!?!?!?!?!>>>>>>>

btw...the pills are an art installation at the location where the show was held...not done for the show...if you drive up park ave you can see it in the lobby window... ;) :flower:

I agree that this collection really needs to be edited but I think I'm the only one here who likes the shapes and proportions. really love the size of the boots and where they come up to on the leg and that they are sort of wide.

I truly dislike all of it. It is totally uninspired. This dress especially is so bulky, no shape and hangs horribly. Not a fan at all.

I don't mind the long t-shirts and things but does there need to be so many? She's had some decent collections in the past but this really does feel like fashion school crap.

reminder...pls include city in thread title...thx all!!

hmmm, I agree with softgrey. The pills say it all: either they took too many or we need them to overcome a headache from this show.

I'm glad to see that others thought the IOC collection was less than inspiring too. I was at the IOC show on Sunday and was surprised at how horrible all of the pieces looked. My boyfriend and I kept turning to each other and remarking "i can make that." The funny thing is, dozens of middle america tourists were watching the show from outside of the Lever House (the walls were glass), and some people were even pointing and openly laughing (esp when the male model in the green elf costume walked by). THe most annoying thing about the show, however, were the two newyork socialites (i don't know their names but I've seen one of them in Vogue - she's married to some artist) who were lip synching to the music track and putting on a performance (they walked along the catwalk too with microphones). I guess they were at least distracting me from the clothes

I also wish they hadn't put the models in front of that garish background (pills? why?). You have to SQUINT to see the clothes...and for your effort, they're hideous. How lovely...

I think the main problem with New York fashion week is that it's been taken over by the vanity projects of talentless hacks: Tara Subkoff, Kimora Lee Simmons, Holly Dunlap, Puff Daddy, J.Lo, etc. I don't think New York can be taken seriously as a fashion capital as long as this trash is continued to be shown under the banner of 'New York fashion'.

You're right, too right.
We should all move to Europe! NY fashion week has become pure sh*t, Vogue is going down the drain. Soon New York will be off of the infamous list of: Paris, Milan, London, New York.

and IOC

While I usually don't mind IOC, I couldn't agree more. I just don't get excited about NY fashion week like I do others.

i may be the only one that finds some sense in the whole collection especially the safari and draping segment

That would be Mother, Inc., composed of vapid (but extremely rich) art producer Yvonne Force Villareal and and her photographer friend Sandra Hamburg. Ugh.
