 I didn't find a thread about this :(

So have anyone been in one? Me and my few friends plan to go next summer..

How old were you? We're 15/16 by then and I know it's maybe too young, but we can take care of ourselves  plus my friends talk french and germany pretty good ( and english, ofcourse)

What were the best experiences? How much stuff did you have with you? How much was your budget?Where were you?etc..

We're going to Europe, the safer parts ( considering what's safe in these days..)
but I've heard of railing in Japan , that would be intresting

I went w. a friend when I was 20.

Copenhagen - Rome - Pisa - Cinque Terra - Monaco - Barcelona - Sieges - Huesca - Barcelona - Paris - Copenhagen

Lovely trip despite the fact that I put all my money on my friends visa ( I didn't have a visa at that point) and she lost her visa the second day we were away...so we were stuck in Rome, with little money on our hands, it was close to the weekend ..making banking transactions painfully slow..all the same it was a great trip!

It was a rather cheap trip because we stayed w. friends in both Barcelona and Paris (and due to the forced skimping of our money reserves while waiting for the money transaction  )

It's 10 years ago so I can't recall the budget - as for how much we brought..what could fit into our backpacks..1 party dress ..so we could visit the casinos..the rest was basic casual clothes.

^so cool, hanne!!

i actually have plans to go from europe to asia next year in the transsiberian  . with our very own mettchen  .

sounds hilarious but it might as well come true -_-

Transsiberian could be fun but not when you're travelling alone with chinese man who don't speak english ..or any other language you would know  I read about this and the trip was hell..

Thanks Hanne for sharing!

i was on interrail with two friends when i was 15. we went to paris and southern france. we didn't really have a budget  we stayed in my parents flat in cannes and in paris we stayed in a great youth hostel by the seine close to notre dame (http://www.mije.com/). i'm sorry if i'm not being a great help here, but we did have a LOT of fun and you should most definetely go. :flower:

I wanted to start a thread on this, because I've been planning with 2 friends to go with interrail this summer, but finally we couldn't go, maybe next year. I know some people who have gone (between 17-20 years old) and they've enjoyed it a lot.

Thanks for the hostel-link! We are planning (oh well, we are going ^_^) to have lots of time in france too.

Heeeelllo, sorry to resurrect an ancient thread, but I thought it better than creating a new one!

Myself and a friend of mine are planning an interrail around Europe this June and as it's our first time, I was wondering if anyone could give us tips, answer any questions?

We're going to be flying from Glasgow onto the continent, probably Amsterdam or Paris and then onwards from there.

Any budgeting/hostel booking/packing/sightseeing/safety tips would be greatly appreciated! :flower:
