Yes. She may not be a household name the way Kate is and she may not have the status as an international fashion icon but I think she is worthy. Maria Carla has a lot of personality, she is amazing in photographs and she's got a very Kate-esque rock n'roll look. They share a certain energy and have a casual elegance about them. I think she is a good fit for H&M and for Stella McCartney. Plus I'm glad they are going with a model who while very popular is not currently as exposed as Gemma or Daria. I think this will introduce a lot of new people to Maria Carla which is great. Already this story is being showcased on Yahoo/CNN/BBC and so forth which means that people who never knew her may get an opportunity to see her and find out more.

In a perfect world Kate would have been able to keep her campaigns but I can't think of a better substitute than Maria Carla.

I agree 100%.
Mariacarla is so so classy. When she walks it is like she is the queen of the world. Love her!
I always saw Kate as a short but cool face model but never get her universal appeal really.

Hmm, tough decision. Kate and Mariacarla have two different types of looks. Kate is the classy, sexy heroine chick in the Burberry trench while Mariacarla has that absoloutley fabulous Milan Ready-to-wear look. It will be interesting to see what Mariacarla brings to the new collection as the spokesperson.

Well I don't think her being 'worthy' is the question, she wouldn't have landed the campaign in the first place, if she weren't. Her worth's been proven, now whether she'll live up to it I can't predict... after all, one can't expect her to live up to Kate's as well...

MariaCarla never seemed H&M-ish to me, though...but it's probably because I'm too used to seeing her in the Givenchy ads ^^;

I wonder how well Stella knows her, since she played a big part in the decision.

Hmmm ... I'm not crazy about Maria Carla - but I can understand why her fans adore her. Still, I definitely think Kate has the edge. I'm sure that Maria Carla will definitely gain greater exposure - and in terms of picking somebody not as overexposed as say, Daria or Gemma, I think it's a good choice.

i think they are so totally different but i them the same. like others have been saying they could have chosen someone worse such as michelle buswell or raquel or lisa cant or karen elson (for example)..im just very suprised they chose mariacarla. its so cool though!
