Jacquemus F/W 2025.25 Versailles

I will tell you something crazy:
Jacquemus collections have a Frenchness to them.
I see Le paysan and there is no way I can mistake this for Italian or British fashion.

Many French houses lack this quality (it is difficult to explain but I don't sense it at Dior, Céline, Givenchy, Saint Laurent and others).

If Simon refines his skills, over time I can see him at the helm of the most French of all houses, Hermès.

I told you from the beginning it was something crazy, you've been warned. 🤣

I think he also does it to stay relevant. With big names making headlines every day—Bella Hadid naked on the runway yesterday, Balenciaga today, Chanel tomorrow—it's hard to stay part of the fashion conversation.
Maybe….
I say maybe because don’t be fooled by his fake modesty, he is working with one of the biggest PR of the industry so in a way, it’s not that difficult for him to make headlines. And considering that he has been such a media darling, they comes anyway.

I almost feel like he is not part of the fashion conversation anymore.

I think he is fighting a different fight compared to all the designers with the same trajectory. He has to earn back his legitimacy, prove the detractors wrong. I think that when you are establishing a legacy and want your brand to succeed on the long run, you have to accept that you may not be at the peak of the fashion conversation anymore.

But when you can afford a good PR, the best casting ever and have the support of a lot of people in the industry (something he has), it can make that path easier.

When we compare the trajectories of French brands compared to American brands, the gap is insane.

Thank god Jacquemus made a deal with L’Oreal then. It prevent him forever to get near any Dumas.

"Le Birkinito", "Le Kellyito"...😆

Poetic and sincere.
Loved the show opening with the boy opening the door and it was nice to see the BTS by Loic breaking down the meaning.

Great collection.
I know y'all don't like Jacquemus like that; so I ain't reading y'all thoughts. Just sharing my own. haha

its really beautiful

i dont understand the deep negativity around him on this forum
it's not deep negativity, for that its has no soul to have deep feelings about it
its an natural adverse reaction to shallowness disguised with a thin glaze of beauty & hint of intellect plaguing the industry just like his designs you don't need to doubt it's clear what it is: performative design with no soul or authentic direction.... lost and just existing taking space.

applauded by the big audience those not knowing any better than what is brought to them by an algorithm disguised as curation and choice or direction.

not every designer or brand needs to be gorgio armani, galliano, mcqueen --- jacquemus is like gap, a little chloe, x y z

its not that deep.. jacquemus is not that deep. It caters to rich people who want something easier to grasp, and something they can spend theirr money on a whim. and without having to think if its an investment piece or a future heirloom.

Because the hate around him is not solely on this forum, I would say that Jacquemus suffers from a « délit de sale gueule » but also because his story was about « cracking the code » let’s say without really enduring the hardships that are expected and promoted in fashion, but mostly, in French fashion.

To say it more clearly: using your culture or your personal history is not really « French ».

Jacquemus is not the first designer coming from humble beginnings to have a career in fashion. But it seems like he is the first one to use that to justify the mediocrity and not evolve. Eventually now, he has to actually prove his worth to the industry again.

And story telling is very rare in French culture. It’s something very American. And so sometimes it feels like exploitation of a narrative…Even if it’s true.
I think the Versailles collection was good but let’s say that it’s bad. Criticizing a show about the idea of peasants going to Versailles, so social elevation, even more when his family is at the show seems a bit tacky.

And then there’s this general consensus that he hasn’t proved himself with the clothes. Even Alexandre Mattuissi who is doing « boring fashion » had to deliver master cut and quality to be validated by the fashion scene.

With Jacquemus, it has been viral moments really. Les sentons de Provence, his breakthrough was almost a decade ago.

no i like gap in 2000´s even Uniqlo..... but it's neither of these either......... as well the price and pretentious around it shows it to be more than what it actually delivers . that's one of its problem than what lola explained it much better
