Jacquemus S/S 2016 Paris

After always rolling my eyes at his shows, I bought the cutest navy miniskirt by this designer not long ago :ninja: .. I still look at this however, and cringe. The problem is that it is very student project because he is bending over backwards to present himself as conceptual, and one hell of an abstract concept, and his clothes on racks are lovely but more Vanessa Bruno Athè than AF Vandevorst meets CDG meets Margiela. When I look at this, I think of tumblr and the endless scrolling of the stuff he fanboys on, that he should stay away from recreating because it clearly lacks substance or any tiny social/cultural commentary... when he sends a model wrapped in a bed sheet, he IS sending a model wrapped in a bed sheet, and most likely that silly navy bandeau top will roll out into your standard French label top that's office friendly and affordable.

Also I nominate that last picture of him barefeet and with a child as the cheesiest show finale in a while... what's that? purity and innocence? shut up, Jac.

There are ideas here that Yamamoto, CdG and Margiela have already done and knocked out of the park, there's no need for any of this.

is he trying to make up for the fact that he hasn't been to a fashion school?

his clothes in store are not bad and in good price though.

Terrible...
I saw little bit Yamamoto, little bit Jean Paul Gaultier and some Margiela.
The fashion Schools can't help in the talentless cases.

You guys are over intellectualizing his work. He is very candid about his approach to design.
His work has a very childish quality and is based purely on the idea of a draw. The collection was called "le nez rouge" as a reference to clowns. So the collages, the deconstruction...etc.

I like Jacquemus because i think in France, we have lost this type of fashion.
He can be the next Castelbajac while doing his own thing.

As for the collection, i was very disappointed by it. With the increase of the quality of his clothes, he should be able to do more clothes to wear.
His colors and everything are great but the show is quite flat because of the lack of real clothes.

And people, being at a fashion school doesn't make you a great/better designer...

ugh this is so boring

i'm sure rihanna will wear it all and everyone will call it "art" but this is such a snooze. NOBODY LOOKS GOOD IN THIS!

While some of the looks are certainly questionable, overall I think this is definitely one of his better collections.

Showstudio did a panel for this show. Picking apart the collection starts around 27:00
