Jane Mayle to head up Chloe?

mayle is good for chloe.
i dont know why everyone judges on the current mayle collection. obviously that will change once she gets hired and if... its not like roland mouret fits into the chloe criteria either, right? :)

Well, what is it about her that makes her good for this job?

Let us make an assesment of this:

1. she is a woman, the former two head designers were women

2. she does girly feminine clothes, the label is known for feminine clothes.

3.she seems to be well liked in the fashion industry, the last head designer (or two) was well liked in the industry

i dont know what elso to say, and i am being very fair to her.

let us look at the other factors.
1. by her own account, she has a problem meeting deadlines.

2. she has never had the experience of running a large company or doing a large collection

3. they already have an experienced and gifted designer on board

4. she will have to oversee
shoes ,
handbags
secondary lines,
ad campaigns
pre collections
resort collections
holiday collections
fashion shows
and whatever else there is that is required, also with her own store she answers to no one, with this job she becomes accountable to a boss who requires her to deliver and deliver consistently.
one might argue that she will have experienced people to help her get these things done, and i agree, but my question is,
If they are more knowledgable and experienced than she is,. why should they be working under her ?................

Well at least I see that everybody is exciting about Chloé's new creative director
Obviously, there are few people who liked what the team did, and they need a visible head, a new one.
I think Chloé had a very own market, they had their audience, the "chloé girl" (as I like to call it) knew what to expect at her favourite label, the last two seasons were completely disaster. There are already Marc jacobs and Marni to do that kind of clothes, we need the Chloé that we knew.

I'm just waiting for those shows where I just simply loved the whole styling Phoebe used to do (until fw 0506)

Can it be? or should I just pick some other label to be my favourite one?

i think one thing that jane mayle might do is bring chloe closer to the body again...

all her stuff is very feminine..but also body-conscious..
designed to show off the female form...not disguise it, the way marni does...

and she is loaded with charisma...
which definitley seems to be important to the success of a designer....
or anyone else -for that matter...

and this is not new---remember halston?...and givenchy hanging out with audrey hepburn...?

it's just on a larger scale now because the world has gotten so small...

they are selling themselves as much as they are their work...
because a true designer puts themselves into their designs anyway...
charisma seems to be linked with confidence...
:ermm:...

i don't know really...
but it's interesting to think about anyway...:p...

probably worth noting, zamb, that most if not all artistic types have trouble with deadlines ;)

your point is well taken about the difference in scale, but ... everyone has to start somewhere :flower: One could make an argument that Jane has more relevant experience than Gucci's head designer did ... :innocent:

i hoe jane gets it.i love herclothes, they remind me so much of what phoebe's last few collcetions at chloe were.
nd i agree chloe is a girly brand that needs a girl designer, its like equivalent of movie by sofia coppola, its just a womans vision.:)

Jayne Mayle is AWESOME huge in NYC and LA..
The line is called Mayle...
I could definitely see a relationship. There is a thread in here on here. There is a pic in designer candids too.

I love Mayle, but for her to head Chloe... I am not sure that she is ready for it. Inovation is not her thing and Chloe desperately needs that, they make beautiful clothes but so predictable, they have that in common with Mayle.
I just think is time for Chloe to wake up and "loose some innocence".

as softgrey said CHARISMA... thats the word!
nowadays all these fashion groups are looking for personalities who can bring them press by equally socialising next to the designing bit.
i think Jayne mayle will be good, lets see

yes she is well liked and her clothes are quite feminine, i have nothing agaist her as a designer, i just think she may not be aple to handle all te responsibilities consistently.
" i believe in Mispelaere"

She's a former model turned designer and has her own line in NYC- MAYLE. Very popular with celebrities like Kirsten Dunst, Olsen sisters and Michelle William. I think she also designed for TOCCA at one point(?)

I like her style but I don't know if she's talented enough for CHLOE- her color and fabric choice are boring and lock of imagination. But her collection are appealing and sweet which most girls/women will like. To summarize it, I think her clothing line is Anthropologie-ish- mixed of boho, pairie, and feminine style.

does any1 know any website stores besides satineboutique(cuz it's always out of stock) that sells jane mayle clothes online?

There was a video shot for the Erin Fetherston Fall 06 Collection....starring Kirsten Dunst and styled by Ellen Von Unwerth. I saw some stills in Lula.

Did they do one for Mayle too?
